Guys got my new opteron today,it was a used one, damn that thing goes awesome i run it on a WC system,on a dfi ultra D im priming now@2900mhz with Voltage of 1.500 in bios what is 1.480 in real time

Im only confused my temps:

My prime stressed temps are around 42 degrees seems high for me because im running on water,or am i wrong?

THks alot

seems about right with that kind of voltage.

Is 1.480V multimeter or CPU-Z reading? CPU-Z is also off :(

42 with 1.48v on water is pretty normal

2gb for gaming, will be hard to run at 290 1:1 unless you get some great stuff

What is safe for a Opteron 46 what is max temp,i think i can get this thing rock stable@ 3ghz on 1.6,but is that safe for 24/7

personally i would try hitting your max 1.45 and then backing down a few mhz for 24/7

there is a shop here in portugal that sells 2x1gb memory with same chips of the Gskill HZ , and in the tests they bench at 320mhz :

If you mean they test and sell kits that achieve 320mhz, they dont. Its a truly amazing result from one of the worlds best overclockers. If you mean your going to get a kit because youve seen them hit 320, well i think the average is 270-280mhz.

umm what stepping is this chip? (lol can't believe i am the first to ask this)

I dont know the exact stepping of this Kick Ass opteron, damn this chip is doing even better now running OCCT TEST 2950MHZ@1.450 in bios,

Lol,nog stable

This Chip seems to be rock stable @2900mhz@1.450(little lower in realtime )OCCT and 5 hours prime Large FFT so far

I think i can get this chip stable @3GHZ but it wil be somewere between 1.580 and 1.620 wil that be a safe setting for 24/7 use?

Thks again

Anyone, able to anwere my question, right above this reply?

It's too much for a 90nm chip to run 24/7.
I wouldn't go over 1.52V with watercooling for daily use, for benches no higher than 1.65V.

I'm running 1.58 daily......

Im done with OC this Operon 1.6 it absolute rockstable 1.500@2900mhz 24 hours Prime.

Guys im running on water,my cpu stress temp@1.500 is about 45 degrees, wit a room tempture of 19 i wonder if this is nomal or that is pretty high for watercooling,
Is there a way to get my temps around 38 stressed@1.500 or is the 45 degrees good while running on water

thks alot

Sure, removing the HeatSpreader.

Depends on how good your water is, but 45c aint that bad for that % oc and ov with IHS on.

How much you gain by going naked depends entirely on your waterblock's design.

Guys,

I just want to tell to anybody get your cpu,s Naked!!! its worth it!!!

As i told before im Rock stable wit my opteron@1.500 2900mhz my stressed temp was on watercooling and that setting about 45 even sometimes 46/47 degrees,

Now i only removed the his because i would like to get a little bit more voltage to get 3ghz for that i need 1.550 but with shim i get temps about 50/52 degrees and was not stable,i think because of the high temps.

Now im running 3ghz so far stable 2 hours prime with voltage 1.550 and my stress temp wont go over 38 degrees and my room temp is 24 this is awesome

getting naked isn't for everyone, and its not for every chip.
