I went to the recycle center today and found a dell inspiron 8300. It was quite dusty, the case was scratched up, however it had 2 gigs of pc3200 Ram and I'm not quite sure about the processor. I went home and put in my old Geforce 2 into the AGP slot, and it doesn't seem to work. When I turn on the computer, the power lights go on as well as the fans. The computer beeps two times quickly, however the monitor fails to recieve a signal. I should mention that this computer lacks an optical drive or a hard drive.

Please help, thanks in advance

Try a different PSU.... Those Dell PSU's are like $2. They are horrible and I have seen that same thing happen with PSU problems. If that isn't the case try different memory.

i don't have another psu. is it worth trying a different video card? i do have a pci card lying around, maybe the agp slot is broken? all of the power led's were on as well as the fan

damn your lucky! try the 2 gigs in your comp and run memtest on em. and for gods sake, take off the hsf and see what cpu is there!

The 8300 series use Northwood CPUs and some generic ram with loose timings (probably hynix).
