Heheh, finally I have finished my top-banner for Mushkin! :rolleyes: I had made other designs, but I thought I would only post my best one. This one is a sort of abstract waves and stuff; I thought maybe Mushkin would want a nice futuristic, colourful design and something a bit of a "how did they do that?" effect :thumbsup:

I have, immediately available, "ENHANCED MEMORY" in both upper and lower case, and the text can be any level of transparency for this one. (well, with all of mine actually--like my others, I also have this in a PSD at 4x the resolution)

Also of note is the filesize and blending...even at full (4x) resolution (2048x540 through 2168x648, none break 200kb with pixel perfect accuracy [no use of JPEG compression and ensuing artifacts]), and blend seemlessly into a black background, like what Mushkin uses now (also ensuring color-choice compatibility between browsers and avoiding use of transparency).

Ouhh, that's kind of neat that we can continue posting some new top banners for Mushkin :woot:

I made some new banners for Mushkin to match their new website's theme. Just for heads up, all the banners I will be making will be made to be inserted in the orange part as seen below:

Now that you know just where my banner should be, you will understand why my banners are so empty lol :D Although I found that they look great once fusionned into the website!

I made this banner with my previous banner's background. I thought it looked great so I decided to remake it :)

This one came out of nowhere, I just felt that Mushkin's website, with all it's black rectangular boxes for the content and that little arrow for Mushkin's logo, was missing one of our all-time favourite geometrical shape: circles!

I think they don't really know themselve.

PS: 404Power uses Macromedia Flash for making his banners. For making a slideshow like my banner it's easier to use Image Ready (with Photoshop), for nice animated effects it's better to learn Flash.

Only suggestion I would have is to make the text in the banner's a bit bigger. People with high resolutions have a hard time reading it :)

I can read it at 100dpi (my monitor's res), so if you're much higher than that, you're probably on a laptop (and I don't think there's many of you out there in this group). The font just needs to be anti-aliased a bit. And the < isn't a <, it seems more hand-drawn

lol yeah, if the little symbol represents the math thingnimagig, then it should mean that. Pretty cool, Mushkin has always promoted the though that they were one of the best, so this new logo fits them quite well :toast:

yeah. and yet, despite the many banners that clearly took some time to do and don't even get a "vote". Without harsh feelings towards Overconfidence, why did his/her banner get so many votes, and others none? Clearly their banner is just some text, and half a donut-shaped object, consisting of three colors. I thought this was a display of your skills.

There are 24 votes there, seems a bit rigged there there are only 4 people, got any votes at all - there are alot of indiviual entrys in this thread.

So did you draw the winners out of a hat, and just make up some votes or what mushkin/duonger.? :rolleyes:

Sorry for the harsh post - just miffed that, others and I have put lots of time (maybe even hours) into these banners, and one of the banners that comes runner up i could make in about 30 seconds. Some of the banners of the winners are very good and i congratulate them, but your way of drawing the winners seems trivial. Its disappointing that there are alot of people who have put some hard work into this competition, and it runs so far over the end date and it doesn't seem to have gotten the same effort put back into judging, keeping it up to date etc. Even the rules are rather vague.

If it was going to be drawn at random i wouldn't have even bothered in the first place.

The simpler one by overconfidence was chosen so often because it's VERY clean and simple....a great banner, IMO.

no, your banners are good, they are animated, and by looking at them i can see they took time to do. My point is, a banner got runner up, and it is just a plain black background, with Mushkin enhanced memory typed, and half a circle. Would take you a few minutes to do max.

My point is, only 4 people got votes at all, and they seem to evenly matched (all got 5,6, or 7 votes.) seems rigged.

You wouldn't be too happy if you went to a footbal match and they blew the siren and just turned off the scoreboard and some guy walked out and drew the winner out of a hat.

Skills doesn't necessarily mean who can put the most marketting into the banner and make it looks seemless, it means who can make the best banner. Overconfidence's was superb and simple at the same time.

Sorry if your banners weren't as good in Mushkin's eyes and you spent a lot longer working on them, but that's how it works unfortunately....he may just be great at this, or gotten a great idea and ran with it for a few minutes, either way, the results and voting speaks for themselves.

I can see your point. but the votes are too closely matched between such a small band of entries that it seems rigged. It just seems mushkin went "orright mate, we've got to get people talking about mushkin memory, so we'll just make a banner comp and put it on xtremesytems to get people trying to suck up to mushkin and say nice stuff." then they left it wayy over the end date to try and milk it for all it was worth, and just distributed the prizes on gut thought and were done with it.

Mushkin's a small company...and people probably talked about it. "Oooo, I like those banners!" "Oh yeah, me too!" And they both vote for those banners, even if one felt more strongly about another. The results are the results, it wasn't rigged (he didn't even win, remember that ;)).

Was meaning to also use flash for the banners, but wasn't brave enough. .Gif's seemed much easier to learn :)

this are the last 3 projects Ive been working on the last coule of months. However apart from the sites themselves there is a huge promo program for each site - including promotional pages and 200+ banners in all formats

there si another one - saxo dvd, design is done but programmers are still working on code and probably it will be uploaded in a month or so

I also do a lot of work for http://lexpress.fr/ and http://carpediem.fr (the :banana::banana::banana::banana: stuff :) ) and also for yahoo (yahoo banners are sh1t - so strict sometimes almost impossible to fit into their standarts)

And if you see a cool looking flash cellphone interface that allows you to download a certain picture through WAP on your cellphone for a small charge - I probably did it, it is like the BIG HIT of the season, I did so many for so many sites I actually can't track it all

Hmm, okay. Well, I haven't given them any of my info yet, 'cuz I haven't got any response back anyway. Hopefully I get some contact though or acknowledgement ^_^.

this are the last 3 projects Ive been working on the last coule of months. However apart from the sites themselves there is a huge promo program for each site - including promotional pages and 200+ banners in all formats

there si another one - saxo dvd, design is done but programmers are still working on code and probably it will be uploaded in a month or so

I also do a lot of work for http://lexpress.fr/ and http://carpediem.fr (the :banana::banana::banana::banana: stuff :) ) and also for yahoo (yahoo banners are sh1t - so strict sometimes almost impossible to fit into their standarts)

And if you see a cool looking flash cellphone interface that allows you to download a certain picture through WAP on your cellphone for a small charge - I probably did it, it is like the BIG HIT of the season, I did so many for so many sites I actually can't track it all
