Just got it! Lemme tell ya - this thing is one big chunk of copper! :slobber:
Looks good - base has nice finish.
Only one thing I can find wrong with it - the fins appear to be slightly out of square in relationship to the base, when viewed from above.
No big deal - won't affect cooling at all, but if you're paying $60+ for a heatsink, you'd expect it to be absolutely perfect!
Anyways, I'll post pics later for you to see. W00T!!

got it from heatsinkfactory.com, of course!

w/ shipping = $62.49

This is on my 2100+ Aiuhb 02/48 from newegg.

old sk6 vs new slk-900-u:

It's pretty!!:

Mounted - Tight fit on the kx7:

In the case w/ the panaflo 68.8cfm from newegg:

Awesome heatsink.
Few issues however:
1) That clearance w/ the capacitors is sketchy
2) the backplate blocks the mobo mount hole between socket and ports.

This could be easily solved by having two separate mounting thru board kits for P4 and AMD. The reason backplate blocks mount hole is because it's long X shaped to reach P4 mount holes. The P4 holes are on end of X arm and that's what blocks the mount holes on an AMD board. Shouldn't be an issue, though, as I have no intention of throwing my case off anything. :D

Temps? Well haven't had time to truly give it the burn but so far:

Idle: old sk6 = 52deg C; slk-900 = 44deg C (waaaaaay quieter - lower tone on hs fan - noticeable difference!!)
Load: old sk6 = 56-58 deg C; slk-900 = 49-50 deg C. (again, waaay quieter.)

This is running the 2100+ at 2275, 1.70 vcore currently. Old sk6 would hit 60 deg C when I would up it past 1.80 - pretty sure I can now run 1.85 with a lot of headroom.
The way the sink is designed, it has lots of space between fins - so it cools very efficiently, it seems. I'm sure if you wanted to sacrifice some sanity and throw a 92mm Tornado on it, it would cool very very well. As it is w/ the panaflo, i can hardly hear it when just the panaflo is running; wheras the pabst I had on the sk6 sounded like a hairdryer.
With some ducting, I'm sure you could get even cooler temps.

worth the cash? Hell yeah! :toast:

sweet! now i've just got to save up a couple extra bucks.

i wonder when SVC will get them, they generally have pretty good prices on Thermalright stuff.

SVC has had them for a while. I ordered mine like a week ago, get it tomorrow. :)

ok, so i've been under a rock for the last 2 weeks.

why the hell does SVC have it hiding at the bottom of the page?

i think i'll wait for better pricing, i know they'll have it for $39-45 soon enough. i'm a cheap bastard. :D

Slyx, WELCOME TO XTREME!!! hope ya like it here!

Very nice heatsink there okra. If I were still air cooling, I would be very tempted to get one ;).

Welcome to Xtreme Slyx.

BIGTIME EDIT:
Ran prime 95 all day here - total of 9 hours - load temps never went over 47 deg C!!
This heatsink makes me very, very happy.

So, new stats: Idle: 42 deg C; Load: 47 deg C.

does it look like a 120mm fan can fit on it?

Thermalright sure does nice Heatsinks, sad that the SLK900-U doesn't fit on all Mobo's. I'm really happy with my SLK800, and I read that the SLK900-U had a 0.01 better heat Conductivity number then the SLK800.

I believe it would be possible to fit a 120mm fan on it, using the old trick of rotating the fan to fit the corners under the fan clips. IF you have the clearance.
I might have to try that this weekend.

Main advantage slk-900 has over slk-800 is bigger fan = quieter.

nice pics :)

I have the 800 on a 1700 @ 2.3ghz / 2.02vcore for everyday running so you got lotsa headroom.

Thanks for the picks, i was gonna order this with a 119cfm vantec, but now ill have to meaure my case. it seems like it will mess with the airflow with your 2 exit fans there tho. i also will have that prob. might have to make some kind of duct or just leave my side panel off.

the cpu fan is pretty strong, doesn't mess with the airflow too much.
I have a 120x38 Delta Black Label as the intake, I put a piece of cardboard in case to work as a "ramp" to direct the air to cpu, and that helped.

I've reached the limits of my kx7 & samsung RAM! :D
Was able to boot in 2400 mhz yesterday and play around some, but had to lower cpu command decode to normal, and relax the memory - in the end not worth it. I can do faster at 2300mhz with tighter settings on ram.
If I had access to mults over 13 I think I could do some damage! But as it is, my Samsung doesn't really like to go 180 fsb or above.
At 1.85 volts the max load was like 52 deg C.
That ain't bad at all.

Man I haven't read any of the reviews on that thing yet, and I didn't realize how big that thing is. Geeze, that thing looks scary. My SK-7 still works well though, and I won't be going with a new heatsink for awhile. Man that thing looks mean, however I would also like to know if a 120 fits on there. I can always just rig something up to get it on if I got one, but if it will work diagonally then that is a big plus. I wanna see that thing with a Tornado on there can you say 115+CFM on your processor!!! :slobber:

Geeeeeez that thing is huge!! I'm surprised you got it to fit! I must say it's a very impressive hsf.

I've since mounted it on my kd7-e. A bit tighter with the capacitors in front of ZIF socket, but still do-able.

If you have room you could fit a 120mm on there diagonal, no probs. Because of the way the fan clips mount, you might even be able to get away w/ 120x38.
