By Paps, I mean my old man, by old man I mean my father

So, what Im looking for is a car in the range of the BMW 5 series.
Anything around that, or below is fine with me.
If I had the money, I would get him a 7 series, but I DON'T! :(
So, Im bout to do is lease the car for my father for about 36 or 48 months with down payment around $5,000~10,000 (depends on my financial status when I go to the dealer)

Just so he can drive that thing around till he can convince my mother to
allow him to spend more on a top class luxury sedan :p:

I've been looking around on various review sites, but the verdicts are
all over the place... one site gives 90% while other gives 50% wtf?!

Oh, if you can suggest a good Automotive/car review site, with written reviews, customer/buyer reviews, rating, etc. (the whole kittenkabottle...) I would be
very greatful, for I haven't found one that I've felt that was satisfactory.

Pre-thanks for the comments~

P.P.S.
Anyone know if the Navi systems in NA are good as the ones in South Korea?
(They got 3d animations and various other visual aid systems on the Navi)
I know NA hasn't advanced its navigation and gps technology in order to suit the needs of the consumer, as much as South Korea does, but I was hoping they would atleast plot out how to get to one place from another with out sending me or my father miles away from the actual destination...

Dont get a nav system.
They will look cheap and be non functional in 5 years.
I would reccomend a 2002 BMW 745I.
They are awesome cars and you can find them all over the place with less than 30 thousand miles on them.
I drove one and I like ti more than the new ones.
Just my 0.02$

tell him to seel the house and buy a mercedes maibach, it'll probably be nicer to live in than 90% of the houses people own today.

lol

The house costs around $600,000~700,000 on the market right now :p:

And I dunno about you, but in our family, the men want cars,
the women want real estate

Here ya go man.
BMW 750IL is an insanely comfortable car at an affordable price.

too old dude :p:
I like the newer BMW bodies much better, and so does my father.
Looks like it carries more "weight" ;)
Plus, my paps had bad experiences with used cars.
They always seemed to have a problem in the first year of purchase...
(Acura, Audi, Lexus, etc... wouldn't recommend used cars myself, unless
its from a person your aquainted with)

Im thinking of getting a 2007 550xi with Premium package for 36mths...
Which is around $900~1,000 a month with $5,000 down payment...
Just test drove it. Except ter thehe smalln expected seating space in
the back seats, it was a nice drive. Quiet, smooth and satisfying control
(steering).

But if anyone could suggest something better then that, shoot~

My only other consideration as of now is the 2006 Audi A6.
Gonna go test drive it next Monday, when I take my A4 in for a check up. :)

There isn't much large luxury sedans on the market. Most of them are midsize.

Like Audi A6, or BMW 5-series Mercedes E-class.

Full size are:

Acura RL, Lexus LS430, Volvo S80

And by full-size, I would mean large interior space as well, and possible ability to cram 4 adults in backseats :)

IS350 A6 or BMW 540i

Volvo S80 IS NOT an full size, it's just a wannabe of Audi A6, or BMW 5-series Mercedes E-class

That's because you're price measuring. We're talking about the actual dimension of the cars

i think you missed the point a full size is a BMW 7 or maybach something that big audi A8

yar, so a 'mid' size would seem about right

P.S.
In dimension wise, Volvo autos seem to be kinda small...
Went and saw the S8 today... pretty small... about the size of a 5series

Dimension wise
S8 < 5 series < A6
(they are only off by like couple inchs in seating room, so, not very significant)

Anyways, I listed down the budget (Lease, $5,000~10,000 downpayment, 36 mths, highest budget, ~$900 per mth)

Just gotta find the best car with in it ;)

P.S.
Audi A6 seems to kick the 5series' arse when it comes to Design (exterior and interior). However, the 5 series has better engine and handling... hmmm...

dah, I realized i got that mixed up aswell. He said he couldn't afford a 7-series but looked for a full-sizer. My bad:)

Anyways, if you plan to fully occupy the car(full of people), make sure avoid any cars that have the "bump" in the middle rear seat( and I mean the seat, not the floor). You'll make the middle guy's car trip a living hell

Sounds like you havn't been in a Maybach. The poor build quality shocked me.
It's a car designed by accountants for accountants.

depends. with a quattro gmbh alighting gear (*hope it's the right translation for "fahrwek"*) and quattro it has even better handling then bmw stuff. the problem is, that your back won't like it too much. the new s6 has anyway one of the best engine, that are avaible (*ok, it makes the car damn expansive*) and the diesel engine were allway better from audi ;) . realy depends on what you want.

ps. ah bmw e38 (*745i or 750i that are mentioned here*) is a real good car, when it's a facelif model and a engine with that a big cubic capacity won't brake done to fast. the hold like 400000 km ,thats about 250000 miles. that is the avarge lifespan in germany for those kind of engine, and in german peopel drive pretty high average speed in comperation to usa and stress the car a "little" bit more .

I'd watch out for BMW, or possibly mercedes as well. Lots of their cars are actually built in US, not Germany. And it has shown some mechanical failures overtime.

For those who are to argue, remember the X5 incident.

For those who don't know, here's something new. Not sure about now, but since a couple years ago, BMW started more plants in the US. The BMW X5 was mostly built in US, not Germany. The US version was known to break down more often, than the German editions. In order to get the Germany X5's, you'd have to make sure your X5's production day is a Wednesday, not other dates.

Thank god for europe then, half the fun of buying german cars is going to the factory store to buy them.

Parents of a friend did that when they bought their cayenna, they wanted the whole feel to it. On the other hand these are the rich as a b1tch people :)

I like the 5 series, but only if it has the M sport package, otherwise it's just an ugly car...

the best buy on the market is a E-Class MB... great lease deals around $600/mo.

Just looked at the new Mercedes-Benz E320 CDX.
Nice car :) , scheduled for testdrive next monday, since they don't have
none, except the exerpt we saw in the show room. Horsepower is lousy
but man... does it have torque... over 300lbs of it @4000rpm :slobber:

E500 costs nearly $20k more, but they look the same, and have same build
quality (interior design and gadgets). Its just a bit bigger, so E320 seems like
the way to go :D

Anyways, I gotta ask, would a very fuel economic diesel car save you money
on fuel? The CDX runs on Diesel #2 (what ever that means), and has fuel
economy of 8.9 L/Km in city and 5.9 L/Km on highways. That sounds pretty
damn good for even if it utilized 94 octane fuel (standards).

However, does diesel cost that much less?
Doesn't diesel cost the same as medium quality fuel (octane 91)?
Or does is cost less then the lowest quality fuel (octane 89)?

P.S.
Is my octane numbering right?
Its, 89 -> 91 -> 94
Regular -> Supreme -> Premium
right?

Heres a pic of the car.
(Click it, and it'll go to the Mercedes-Benz Canada site. Oh btw I reside in Canada.)

Are there really E-63's or did someone just put a 63 next to the E-? I saw one, or atleast I think I did, the other day and I liked it a lot. A little different than the E-55, but not much different. Nice though.
