building a new intel rig - wanted to get used to ddr2 and intel before i take the conroe waggon ...
anyway , this are the specs :

Pentium D 805
Asus P5ND2 SLI (bios 0601, but problems were with 0501 as well)
2X512mb twinmos pc-4300(ddr2-533)
7800gtx
PCP&C 510W SLI

now, I had tons of problems with sata drive - w.d 250gb sata-II , 16mb cache , can't install xp on it - windows cd formats and copies files, and after it it restarts ... now im supposed to get the graphical interface of the setup - nothing ...
sometimes it just froze when formatting/copying files ... randomly ...

so i pulled an old 40gb ide drive and installed - everything's o.k ....
now i wanted to connect the 250gb as a second hard drive , it disconnects from time to time, can't write to it ... can't read from it ...
the 250gb drive have been tested on other rig and is fine ...

any Ideas ? let's solve this problem ... I have quite a few more for ya experts later !

thnx in advance !

Unfortunatly I can't help you. But I also have an asus board (p5ld2), an 805, and 2 250 wd 16m cache (raid 0) and it is giving me errors above 178fsb. I don't know if the drives are the problem but maybe our problems are linked somehow?

Does the drive have a jumper to SATA-1 mode? Give it a shot. Try running it on a raid controller if the board has one.

I was having problems with my drives till i upgraded to the newest bios.
Mine would work fine with a single drive but not when they were raided. It might be worth an upgrade to the latest bios.
