System Specs

Opteron 175 2.2 GHz
DFI LanParty SLI DR
2Gig G-Skill DDR 500
ATI X1900XTX
2 Raptor 74 Gig.

A friend and I have both purchased 2Gig of your G-Skill DDR 500 RAM. After about a month of heartache we did a little RAM swapping and came up with this.

His RAM runs great in DUAL channel and at its rated speed; (IN MY BOARD AND HIS) Which may I add we have IDENTICAL boards also, DFI LanParty SLI DR with the same BIOS settings.

However, with that being said my RAM won’t run at its rated speed, it runs stable on his machine at DDR 400 not 500. When a mem test X86 is run while the RAM is in dual channel there is a tremendous about of Errors. I did leave it over night and came back in the morning and it was at about 40,000,000 Errors or so, and it just kept right on going. Now here is the kicker, when I place one stick of RAM in at a time and the mem test goes off without a hitch, NO Errors at all. The problem seems to occur while it’s in dual channel running at DDR 500.

I have included Screen shots of CPU-Z and a Photo of my RAM and his RAM side by side.

As you can see my RAM is in DIMM 3 (the left CPU-Z) and his RAM is in DIMM 1 (the right CPU-Z). Again mine shows running at DDR 400 and his at DDR 500. I know in many cases this doesn’t matter but unfortunately it dose here.
