Joystiq is reporting that the PS3 will cost between $600 and $730 Dollars. The cost of the system seems to come because of its high end features. Something tells me it will sell out regardless.

of course it will sell. Only people who buy the console at launch are die hard fans, and they'll pay anything.

But you have to remember, this is the actual price, then what the hell will they be asking for on launch day........lets just say they better have a couple of tourinquet's and a surgeon :stick:

seeing as how theyre doing a worldwide launch, and supply will probably be incredibly limited, i plan on reserving on as soon as they start taking reservations, and selling the :banana::banana::banana:ing thing on ebay for 2-3 times what i paid for it to begin with.... The first systems are probably gonna suck anyway. PS2 had probs, PSP had Probs, *bets on PS3 having probs.

If they have the right games..then I'll buy it.

the 360 has the nice hardware and stuff but is missing the killer apps.

That's quite alot, just means it'll be worse for us in the UK, we always seem to pay more for consumer electronics. It also means that if a price drop occurs the damn thing will still be expensive.

I'm going to buy 4 on launch, sell 3 of them on ebay for $1000, and keep the last one since it's free.

most likely someone will be dumb enough to pay $1000 for the box so you wont even have to sell the system.

I bet I could double the price by making it a "Bill Gates" signed gold plated PS3 box.

WOW that's expensive for just a game system... Hopefully they'll have good games at launch to justify at least $100 of the premium over the Xbox 360. Either way, I can't afford either so I think I'll wait till next year or so :p:

There's no way. Sony isn't retarded, particularly because the PS3 isn't just for their games division but is the primary weapon in the next gen DVD war.

It'll be $400 at launch, maybe up to $500 but no more. Besides Sony is on record as saying the PS3 won't cost as much as this "analyst" thinks.

If Linux can run on it I will moust likely buy one. Though the price expectations are not very spectacular:p: .

you know, if analysts and everyone else are predicting $700-$1k for a price on the PS3, it would be viewed as a "bargain" when it debuts at $400-450. It may not seem rational, but consumers have never been rational. Just something to think about. ;)

If we can get linux to run on a DRM Mac.. A PS3 shouldn't be much of a problem..
Might be a pretty powerful, premade Linux PC ;)

I thought I read somewhere that PS3 was going to run linux or some form of it anyway? Or was that just rumours?

I believe it has been confirmed that the PS3 will be able to load some forms of Linux without any issues.

well the only way that could happen is if Sony actually begins supporting Linux...
Which would be an extremely unexpected surprise..
Especially after all that Root kit crap..
