So, what is the MAX recommended vcore? I booted into windows at 10 x 260 and 1:01 and am now running dual prime (takes sooooooooooo long though).

Since my ram maxes out around 267mhz, I guess I can use a divider and go higher? Just wondering what I should keep the vcore at.

Temps at idle are 19c!

Load only running a few minutes are: 28|31|40c

Thx all

keep the vcore at 1.55v or less, but test every value in between since gains could start to be very small and not worth it after 1.5

BTW where'd you get it?

Mr.Kakarot

Hmmm, thx. It failed at 1.4 @2600 in 10 minutes, so I went to 1.52, lol

doh

Off a friend at a canadian site, why?

thx

weeeee
hope you have good luck with it!!!
Since I sold you it :P

You might want to be testing Small FFTs. Large FFTs you are testing could be stressing the memory more than the core.

hmmm, yea but I want my system to be stable with ram @ 1:01 so in the end should that matter?

guess I should be taking the long road and doing MAX cpu first....

heh

man I love short cuts

Thx Ca1n

Had a x2 3800 of the same stepping. It was poxy. Then it died. :(

Hope you have better luck with yours.

woah. slow down there. try upping it like .25v at a time. was it stable @ 1.52v though?

as for running 1:1, its nice but wouldnt you rather get more MHz out of it? i cant remember where i heard it, but in the world of AMD "MHz is king!"

also, even if your mem runs realyl fast sometimes the mem controller might not be able to handle it and you will have to use a divider to get it to work.

just a couple suggestions, but keep up the good work. lets see 2.7 soon :)

2750 right now at 1.58v

prime stable for 10 hours....

temps under full load are 35c

gonna try a little higher now, sucks that stablility tests take soooooooo long

You sure you're properly running two instances of prime? Full load 35C is pretty damn good for 1.58v on air in your closed case....

Once I find a happy cpu area, I will lower the voltage and keep trying to It is all good

Those are pretty good temps. What is ambient?

Too bad you have to use such high vcore though for 24/7.

And kakarot, don't take shortcuts... OCing is practice and hardwork... ;)

Mr.Kakarot
04-05-2006, 05:20 AM
Ambient is around 20c, yes I know.... damn meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee and my voltage craze. Going by memory though, last night I tried 2600mhz 10x260 and with 1.5 it failed in 10 minutes? Might be my mobo hey? Or anything else?

Yes, proper dual prime at full load = 800 megs of ram each instance on a 9/10 divider. Added a pic :)

Thx

then again Expert boards are known to be notoriously off with temp monitoring... :)

Mr.Kakarot
04-05-2006, 05:45 AM
True but I have used a thermal probe thermometer on it as well and it was within 4 degrees...

So max voltage for 24/7 use? Not looking to get years out of this chip....

You know me ;)

That's far from high vcore ;) I've been running 1.612v for over a week almost 24/7. :)

you should try a divider. run a 300 mhz HTT, and then do a .83 divider so your memory runs at 250mhz. And take the core down. when I had my 170, I was running 3ghz 1:1 with no voltage increases.

If I cannot get 10 x 280 to work, on the 9/10 divider and 1.5 volts... why would going higher work? Like I said, I think it is something in my set up requiring the extra volts... wish I still had my sli-dr board to test that theory

thx

*droooool* i want to play with my 0545XPMW already. it has arrived in my city and just waiting for the mailwoman to come around.

my mem is good up to 290, but i highly doubt i will be able to run 10x290 (1:1)

how is the memory controller on this thing? i hear if your memory is running faster then you need more vcore to run 1:1, is this true?

Yeah i was just about to mention that, temperatures are probably in the ballpark of 10c more than reported.

I have a 170 and I get 45* load at 1.35v at 2.5GHz. 1.50 @ 2.70Ghz gets it somewhere around 60-65*. DFI Ultra-D here. So these temps seem very very low...

Check the taskmanager and total CPU time. That will tell if they are doing anything.

1.55 isnt lots of volts at all, many run as high as 1.65 24/7....

ive seen dead at 1.7 once i think.

I still have that chip and it takes 1.5V on water for 2.8 and 1.55V on air w/ IHS still on

RFD in da house ;)

Anywho, at 1.55 I can get 2700 stable, trying 2740 right now.
But to go higher, I need da volts!

Yea the temps are great, and that was after dual prime 100% usage x 2 for 8.5 hours! So even if it is 10c off, that is still below 50 at full load!

Makes me think 1.6 - 1.66 shouldnt be a problem... then I would be 2800 stable! Going to san diego tuesday, my vid cards should be here when I get back... then I'll juice it up

heh

I'm not saying 1.6v is high in general, hell I've gone 1.92v on my old FX-57, it's just I've gotten so used to running low volts with the dual cores I've gotten. I've been lucky and the last 3 chips have done 2.8 - 3.0 with only 1.4-1.45v :).

yea that would be sweet. I dont know why I cannot do that (mobo, psu) or my inexperience.... but I think I have it figured out pretty much. When my prime fails, I give her some more juice and it works....

i'm a voltage addict! Fun stuff though, time consuming. Nice to see the opty run faster then the stock fx.

this is pretty much the exact clocks/voltage my X2 gets...

is it a "T" chip by any chance? (bottom right corner of the cpu in gold letters)

is 1.55v in bios or SG, I need to set 1.55v in bios to get 2.7ghz stable..

and you will see how hot your cpu really is under load :fact:

my current temps are 37. 38, 44c across the board. Full load dual prime @1.55

I did some cable management, the thing that really dropped my temps was changing the fans. I had most blowing in, now I have same in as out... worked well

yeh I kno but im saying they're not your max temps

running dual BURNK7 will heat it up another 4 degrees or so

wth? i thought you were playin with the opty 170?? i see in your sig its the FX-60 now. am i missing something? i JUST got this today and im going to switch my fans around to better case temps.

so kakarot, what were your highest MHz and voltage? i have the big typhoon so i think its pretty cool.

I do have an fx-60 but I just got this the other night :)
so now I am playing with it... decided to go the low voltage route (low for me)
so far I am at 1.55vcore and 2720 and 12 hours dual prime stable. with temps of
25/35/41 :)

I can go higher but I have to add volts - running 10 x 272 with a 9/10 divider :)

work time :(

I think I am 1.50 and a special of 104%

I am not running 1:01, I am running a divider 9/10

Can your memory even do 270 stable? Could be the problem
