I can get up to about 296. my bios is 809, would upgrading to 1003 help?

I'm using 3.46ee with 1.6v, I'm starting to regret not spending the extra cash for a better board -_-

newer BIOS usually seems to be a good thing.
But waitasec... You got an Extreme Edition and an Asus made vid card, and then skimped on the mobo? :nono: :slapass:

hah, i have a friend who's dad works at intel. so he gave me the proc and vid card ;)

 dayum! Hook me up with a "vintage" 3.4 EE socket 478 then lol.
*wishes he knew someone at intel to get ES chips from*

damn so, i guess no one knows about the board huh?

btw, my ee only says "confidential" on the chip and nothing else =P

ooh sounds like an Engineering Sample.... very nice, you should have an unlocked multiplier then... so are you needing higher fsb for system bandwidth, or is that where youre board is stopping and therefore limiting your CPU OC? If thats the case, up the multi!

my max multi is 13, min is 12. the only thing i can do is up fsb. i'm at 297 right now.

Modern ES chips only unlock lower multipliers, not higher.
Presler and Smithfield based XE's get higher and lower multi's unlocked Gallatin-2M's didn't, only lower.

Pied, what cooling you got on that thing :)
It's a Gallatin-2M core so don't expect to see huge numbers out of it, whats the max clock speed you've seen using the 13x multi? I presume 297FSB is with the 12x?

297 is with the 13x multi. i got crap ass cooling, a cheap coolermaster hs. i'm just seeing where i can get until summer (saving $$ to buy another pump).

I tried searching everywhere for overclocks on the 3.46ee but, there's not many and most of them are done on the 915 chipset.

Thats 3861MHz, what do you expect? This is a Gallatin-2M, not a Prescott.
Drop the multi to 12x and try upping the FSB from there, but on a 915 with 'crap ass cooling' you're probably reaching the limits.

i guess it's the limit, hoping it wasn't. oh well. i'm on 945 fyi

Like I said, drop the multi and see if its FSB or CPU holding you back....

oh i see, yeah my bet is that its about the limit of that chip. If it IS Gallatin, i do remeber seeing oh so few 4ghz ones.

i tried 300x12 still no go. thanks anyways

Well, i do own this board.
Can play around with the Multi, so cant see if i go above 300 or not :/.
