While I am not a propoent of stepping meaning everything, I thought that you guys might like some info on a new stepping.

This particular 146 does not like low voltage like my one that met an early grave for no apparent reason (this was an RMA).

Here is what it will do

1.4v -> 2.5GHz
1.5v (possibly lower) -> 2.7ghz (300x9 with ram at 300mhz 2.5-4-3-7)
1.51v -> 2.9ghz (290x9 with ram at 290mhz 2.5-4-3-7) (will try tighter timmings)
1.59-1.60 -> 3ghz (300x10 with ram at 300mhz 2.5-4-3-7)

At 3ghz it was 7 hours of prime blend stable, but it after 1500% of windows memtest it failed when the volts were at 1.56. Repeated memtest at 1.58 and it BSOD'ed after 900%. Possibly the mem controller on the fritz at such high speed/FSB but hard to tell.

If you guys want more info/pics or want me to try some settings, just lmk and I'd be happy to try it out.

btw, cooling is moderately powerful water

CACJE 0603FPMW isn't a very new stepping anymore. They are coldbugged but OC alright.

Well something interesting here. When I was reading your post, when I first saw 1.4V for 2.5ghz, I said....not too much of a clocker! (I had a opty 170 that could do 2.7 ghz on stock voltage but never did 3 ghz stable) Interesting how it scale with voltage!

Interesting: almost linear scaling

voltage increased by 14.3%
cpu clock increased by 12.0%

Did you try > 1.6V?

my cpu was 3ghz stable for about a month and a half when it was brand new (every prime test 17+ hrs)

after that...its dropped to only 2.9ghz stable(+/-)

Update. Im at 1.51volts loaded right now and 8 hours prime stable, 32M stable, and 500% (will do more) windows memtest stable at 2.9ghz. (290x10 290mhz mem 2.5-4-3-7)

Charloz24: I had the same thing. I had a CABYE 0540 146 taht did 2.7ghz (300x9 1:1) at 1.409v loaded but wouldnt do 1mhz past 2.95ghz, and it took 1.75v to get to 2.95.. and stuffice to say it WASNT stable.

With 1.6-1.61v Im sure it will do 3ghz stable no problem considering that 1.51 gets me to 2.9 and it scales well with voltage.

How far does it go on stock 1.36v?

MaxxxRacer

Stock is actually 1.4v.. All the voltages i posted were from the DMM.. At the stock 1.4v (CPUZ 1.36v) it does ~2.5ghz roughly. that is totaly stable.

Just did a 1M run at 3.1GHz 310x9 1:1 at 1.58 volts. Shockingly it passed.

Check it out guys. Same stepping...

very nice. get the new version of Pi so we can see how it actually did.

ive had two of these now that break 3ghz pretty easy... the first one i had did it at stock volts, the second takes 1.5v but it maxes out higher.

Is it an N or T chip?

My bets would be on T...

hey maxxy is that a t or n chip

Same stepping btw...

@ Maxx - n00b question, how did you hit 1.59 VCore on a DFI ? 0.8 + 104% goes straight to 1.632...:(

Heh that's 1M. What's prime-stable?

0.8 + 4% goes to 1.632 -> did you make a typo?

@nemo & vercetti

I've got the same chip, different batch number. Mine is a T

nice, does it clock the same way? Scaling with voltage.

I haven't taken mine past 3.0 becuase I'm only on air. I don't trust the readings on my AD0 Ultra-D.

I believe I'm at 1.525v BIOS, 1.488 cpu-z for prime stable everyday settings.

My chip might be a different animal than yours. Here are some screens from my stock VCore testing.

I think those shots are before I removed my IHS and put it back with AS5 with alot of pressure.

Ehh.. Maxx have you treid this chip over 3Ghz ?

Mine is 4 hrs Prime stable at 300x10 with 1.612v, but at 310x10 even at 1.65v it fails to run Super Pi 1M also...:(

Any suggestions ?

I have the CACJE 0602FPMW and its a pretty sweet chip, 2.9ghz all day at stock volts, doesnt seem to scale well with voltage, but i've not pushed the voltage much over 1.5 cos i'm still on air cooling. Once i get my new rad and pump i'll bung it under water and see what it'll really do...

I'm very disapointed to hear that its coldbugged, I was hoping to bung it under a cascade at some point once i'd got my Conroe setup sorted... Ah well, lifes a pain sometimes...

my mem controller on my 0603 is REALLY weak, talking 2x1gb will run 260 3-3-2 1:1 and for 300x10 i need to use 3-3-2 just to get it to boot with a 133 div.... 6ns/9mal.

great clocker though, still faster then my 2.6ghz cabge 1:1... 400mhz does wonders lol.

^^ Yup I'd agree with you.

But my CH-5 doesn't go above 265 (2-2-2-5) so doesn't really matter lol..
