well it very likely had an old 911 engine in it. that used to be the fun thing
to do some 10-20 yrs ago over here. perfect sleeper. mostly notable by the
oil cooler peeking into view under the front bumper. MONSTERS!
then again, the original porsches were more or less spiced up beetle parts :)

I've seen HPA throw out some nice 500HP Beetles, but never seen a old beetle being a sleeper

Not on the road and track, but take it off-road and it's not bad.

There are also the Skat racing engines which produce 160-300 Horse power and bolt right up into the VW bug(old skool)

You can take the standard unit up to a couple of hundred with a bit of time and effort.
Throw a few $$$ at it and you can push 4-500bhp

And you wonder why aircooled cars are banned from Nopi... Just too damn fast for minimal horsepower... there are guys running around with EFI and turboed Type4's that produce well into the 600horse range... :/

^^^ haha, the Nascar herbie in that "Herbie:Fully Loaded" had a 190hp Porsche Carrera 4cam motor in it.. motor was worth more than the car sadly..

lol, nice man, classic beetles are nice little cars imo. my dad used to have 1/4 mile beetle, was looking through some old part mags for them, seems like you could pretty much strap anything into one, and onto one.

depending on the racetrack not a big deal. power ist nothing without control.
