I don't want to speak on behalf of OCZ or even pretend to know what's going on, but i think it is being delayed, so you're best off sitting tight, enjoying some watercooling for the summer, and waiting for OCZ to update us. I know that they are paying attention to us and they'll let us know when there's more info :)

Gave up on this, it is definitely delayed, going with a Chilly1 unit.

When launching a new product it's not like ; - hmm let's launch it and see what happens,
No their is a so called checklist that needs to be 100% correct double checked before they even can think about launching...

-transportation
-rma requests
-end user agreement
...

i think were still in this phase of the project :)

Prototype?
For God's sake, it's just a simple SingleStage with an OCZ logo! :stick:

And I thought OCZ already had that sorted out, having PSU's and memory out on the market already and all:D

uh that's sketchy...
I remember so many ppl with leaks in their suction lines back in Mach I days. I don't think OCZ will risk loosing respect because there are weak parts in the unit. it takes time to sort out all eventuallities and make some more long term tests to make sure the unit is that robust.
Remember not everyone buying a phase is aware of how to handle it... think there are enough people who are not able to figure out that moving a freezed suction line is bad ;) Thinking about such things, I'm not wondered it now takes them so long. Additionally to the things Mentor mentioned...

I still think it is a good sign that it takes them longer. Maybe it'll make the unit a bit more expensive, as somebody has to pay the developing and planing costs but until now, every OCZ part I ever bought was worth every € ;)

Look at the wait this way: OCZ is giving you the opportunity to get the most out of whatever overpriced cooling solution you have (c'mon, most everyone here has invested a lot into their current setup).

Waiting a little longer for your current cooling to become 100% obsolete on XS isn't so bad, is it? Because once this product launches if you don't get on the bandwagon, your once competitive OC is going to be a lot less competitive.

I think a 2007 launch is probably what's going to happen. OCZ wouldn't be able to fix all of their problems, do the marketing, and have a successful launch within 5 months (I don't think). If they wait any longer than early-mid '07, though, people will just completely give up on this.

think a $300 phase was too much for OCZ to handle... lol I mean that is really really cheap for a phase... And of course I heard something about how the quality with the units they received was very bad so they are delaying it... Though I don't know if they have found something yet.

Isn't chilly working with ocz though?

Praxis1452
07-30-2006, 04:03 PM
really? didn't know that. That was what someone posted on anandtech after they e-mailed ocz. Said what I heard. But if chilly is working with them.... *shrugs*

Nosfer@tu
09-05-2006, 02:57 AM
Chilly isent that involved I remember.

He made som things for them and they took over from there.
But it has been almost 8 months or so since we heard about this, so just dont understand why you would want to make marketing for a product around 1½ years before you launch?

To give Asetek a posibility to produce a better product?

Silvermirage
10-03-2006, 08:19 AM
if they can make a phase @ $300 it might not be worth getting. It'll probably be cheap and plasticish

I think this means that the OCZ Phase plan probably is dead because it isn't "cost effective" for anyone. Users or OCZ. So I think it is best to drop this.

I merely pointed out that we have a "beating a dead horse" emoticon...like Zardokk asked about

I gave my last official statement about this here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=1740956&postcount=74

Those of you that don't care if it comes out or not....stop speculating that we can't do it....those of you that do care.....when I/we have more info...believe me it will be posted.

If you can just look at my reply...Mr. Popo In a way, I did answer you:

when I/we have more info...believe me it will be posted.

Nothing has changed with the project, thus the name is the same for now, unless they decide to change it.

Quantities are impossible to predict either.....Initial batch should be 100 - 300 units. Beyond that it will depend on sales.

You havn't changed have you? Still going around speculating, and giving your own opinion without much fact and figures because u claim simply it isn't "cost effective" ....
