Does anyone have a picture of the rear foam gasket? I don't think my Prom came with one... Argh! I waited all this time and now I'm probably gonna have to wait again :(

I would have to take prom apart for pic...it is black foam and fits snugly inside the rear cup, if you have nothing that fits that description, then you don't have it.

Yeah, no foam.... Now what do I do :(

Email Chip-Con. They should send you one quickly as I have heard from others that were missing the foam from their CPU kits.

How quickly? I really wanted to get it together tomorrow :(

They forgot a part on mine and had it to me in 3 days. Not bad I thought.:)

Hi’ Michael

The Rear Foam Gasket is not included in the American models, instead you should use the heating element in the kit.

???

So I don't put the foam gasket in?

Wow Chip-Con support r0x.

Hi’ again

Yes, it’s the same mounting procedure, add the seal string to the cover with only the heating element in it, and then place it on the back of your motherboard.

And you are right, better safe than sorry.

WOW...that's news to me. I live in USA and mine had foam and heater included in AMD kit.

Are you using them both together?

Hardass

I am using just foam, because from what I understood the heating element was for tropical climate locations. Where humidity is high and it can,t get much higher then 100% like it is in miami. And the foam came in the kit!

Well should I just use the heating element? I think the foam would probably be better but I don't have the foam and chip-con said use the heating element...?

Yes go ahead.

There has been CPU kit model changes from what I can tell. First kits came with only foam and the most recent one comes with the heating element. I believe TheDude received a transitional kit between the early and recent models and therefore, received both.

Hi’ Svenn

Some of our first kits we shipped to the USA had this gasket insted of the heating elements, however since the you use a different voltage frequency than here in Europe the cooling unit cools a few degrees more, so in a few situations the foam gasket isn’t enough, that’s why we started using the heating elements instead.

Using both the heating element isn’t a good idea as this will make it worse than just using the heating element by it self.

Hope this answers your questions.

Well that answers my questions. I did get my Prom set up and it works! Now I just need to get MBM to figure out what my cpu temps really are. Btw, I think it's funny that he called me Svenn there, but in the first e-mail used Michael, my real name.

The heating element for this thing really rocks! Between that and the seal string, there's been no moisture build up at all. It's a very clean setup, ChipCon gets high marks for quality.

Nice OC there IMNoPatzer! Can you get 2800 MHz out of that Thoroughbred B? What kind of voltages are you using for 2750 MHz?
