got a bit of a problem that I need a bit of advice for if anyone is kind enough to help.
ok, my gigabyte k8ns-ultra 939 (agp) board has just died on me. So i need to buy a new motherboard. I am thinking of going to nforce 4, however, I have a raid 0 config on my hard drives, and I would like to keep it!

Would I be able to transfer the raid setup onto an nforce 4 controller?

At the moment I am using the nforce 3 raid controller. I am also using the silicon image sata controller just for a normal non-raid sata hard drive. Would I lose data on that if I just plug it into the new motherboard and install drivers for it?
I have a separate hard drive to install windows onto.

Please help!!!

Thanks

You should be able to transfer a Raid setup from nForce 3 to nForce 4 without any problems.

Thanks for the reply... hmmm... im in two minds now do I just buy another k8ns ultra to be safe (they are cheap)... and then upgrade when the new dual cores come out... or just get a nf4 now...

the bigger issue is that i would also have to upgrade (well probably downgrade) my graphics card too... otherwise i would jump at a nF4 board...

well thinking about it again, i dont really play games anymore anyway... so a cheap pci-e card will do too :D
so im thinking Asus A8N-E or MSI K8N SLI-FI or similar :)

well what type of a budget do you have and how much do you love to overclock?

well im in UK and im a student, so i'm looking at max of about 120GBP for both mobo and video card... stuff like this is expensive here compared to the states!

oh and im not an extreme overclocker, i was running 3500+ newcastle at 2.4ghz, ram at stock with divider (wouldnt go any higher, damn patriot ram)

that is about $210.. so this shouldn't remotely be a problem..

and

Evga

Or if you are really trying to keep the price down..

but ultimately it is your choice...

thanks nn_step, you have been a great help
ok im going to go for
EPoX EP-9NPA+ Ultra, nForce4, as i dont need the SLi.
last question, would that graphics card give me better performance than my current ati radeon 9800 non-pro?

absolutely. I would have suggested a 7600Gt but it just within the budget.
