i dunno what happened ... i was playing my .mp3's and then it started to skip. i figured " lol wdf is goin' on?" so i reboot and the begining part of bios tells me master slave and master of the primary and secondary drive are bad :( . i'm not surprized that the old compaq one went tha's why i never put anything on it. my two western digitals are now gone. so all 73 gigs are gone.

i WOULD vent but that would lead to perma bad, i've already had one of those pulled from my record  anyways now i'm on some slow    umda 66 ide hdd that was on my old p3 setup. ..... i guess it's a sign to go sata like i was planning anyways ....

btw i tried to get the hdd's to work seperately but nvidia's chipset wont even detect the ide's.

any one reccomend 2 good quality hdd's for under a hundred combined? well have a nice day and thank you for reading my rant.

Dude, ya your better at calming down then I am. I put dents in my case, and threw my 15" LCD down the stairs. It all works thought, except for the LCD there is a HUGE! crack in the middle of the screen, but it still displays.

As for the new HDs http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144102 :( If you would just get one you could probely find a better deal, but you asked for 2 so just get two of them. This is the only SATA one in my search http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144173 , but that is totaly usless buy due to you get each MB for 1.225 :(

Don't buy those small hdd's. For a 100$ you can get a single 200-250GBhdd.
WD Caviar is a good one, and still a fair price.
Stay away from Maxtor's DiamondMax10, since they die frequently, if they are not cooled properly.
Samsung Spinpoint is also good disks.
If you must have two hdd's, then buy 120 or 160GB hdd's, since these are the second cheapest disks (after 200 and 250GB disks).

Yea, but I thought you wanted it under 100 so I went with the 48...O well, ya that drive looks nice.

:lol I looked at the thread, and ya...BBs + Monitor dose not = a good chance of it working :(

I wish computer parts were made out of bullet prof material instead of silicone :( :lol

As for my sig I started a thread in EOCF called "WTF Videos" and some of them are amazing. I'll put a link in my thread to it when I get home...

Well I got a 19" CRT, and I wanted to use it as a second monitor so by throwing it down the stairs I thought it would learn it's lesson to be higher than 1024 x 768, but I found out that you can have one 1600 x 1200 and the other 1024 x 768...

Damn, are you sure they die that easily? I was going to buy one of those, I guess I should be happy that I did not, I won't active cool my HDDs, my PC already makes a lot of noise.

If you don't put it behind a fan, or in a hdd WC, then the temp is going op to 55-65°C in no time, and if you keeps it running at that temp, then its toasted after a short time.
In general, Maxtor is nice cheap, but they get very hot, so if you don't cool them actively, then they burns of quickly.

Maxtor=bad. Which is odd, since Seagate (who just bought maxtor) = super mega top quality drives, greater than 9 times out of 10. If you get a WD, don't get the 2500KS. Spinpoints I can't comment on much, except that I have yet to see a samsung drive in the shop.

only had one problem with maxtor drive, and that was my own fault, (switched the 5V and 12V feed to it.)

Barracuda 7200.8 and .9 are allso some BS performers. Even DM10 performs better.
barrcuda 7200.7 is a good series, ecept the 120GB + SATA drives, that often starts whining.

Ouch, what's wrong with it?
