I was flashing about testing different bios's. My comp after a good alt-f2 bios flash restarts to no visual. And keyboard doesnt respond, I think its a dead bios. Where can I either buy a new bios chip from or hot flash...?

but I think they cost as much as a new board though. I heard in 2 weeks Asus will reveal it's Conroe compatible MB though....

That doesnt help me at all.
I have no keyboard so I cant alt-f2.
And asus new motherboard doesnt get my benching rig back up...

I would call or email Asus asking for a new bios chip. I needed a new one for my old DFI LanParty board, it was free (covered under the basic warranty) That's probably your best bet, because I can't see hotflashing working.

I'd like to avoid that due to the long time period. Why wouldnt hot flashing work if I bored a bios chip?

i think your best bet is to steal one off an old mobo and find a system to hotflash it in.

Dude, they do sell bios chips. Heck they bugged me to death about it for a month...call them and tell them the deal. They will ask you to read some number on the bios chip and on your board and give you a price...

NoL,

Dude.. you have 2 options.

1. Call up Asus. They have a bios dept that will allow you to buy the bios. Which cost like $20. Or you can send them yoru bios to flash.. This way you can keep your board. I bleieve they ship BIOS out of TN for some reason.

2. Hot Flash teh BIOS - I have done this many time, sinc eI have killed my BIOS with custom ones. This require 2 P5WD2 mobo. You boot up the good mobo. While it is on (perferabbly on command prompt), you take out teh bios ship. You replace it when your bad one. Now you flash it. Works well for me. The hard part is you need 2 P5WD2 or a friend that has one.

Hope that helps.

Ya i know how hot flashing goes and I have yet to receive a response from asus.

Here's my secondary plan which im going ot geuss wont work.
Flash my p5gdc deluxe with 0606 p5wd2 bios. I gotta rename it to p5gdcp.rom to get it to accept. Once its on there, swap the chip into my p5wd2?
