As the title says, Imma bit confused about the controllers...
What is their purpose?

They aren't cheap (especially the scsi ones)...

SATA is for SATA drives (which is the future standard)
and SCSI is for server Drives and you shouldn't even look at them unless you really really really care more about performance over capacity and cost

I don't mean the format of SATA or SCSI,
I mean, what are the 'controllers' for?

What the heck are they suppose to 'control'?:confused:

The hard drives and the transfer of data in and out of them.
Raid cards on the other hand are far more useful.
Because they can not only act as controller cards but they also can set up Raid arrays.

some motherboards dont have sata or scsi. ones that do have the controllers soldered to the actual motherboard.
