When socket A was realeased and the duron was born, their were quite a few ways of unlocking / setting the multiplyer from the top of the chip.
Ie i know the L1 unlocked them all ..
But how does one SET a particular multi, by setting it on the CPU ?

Any ideas ? - i cant remmber how to

You can mod bridges to change the default multiplier, or use tiny pieces of wire to drop in the socket to accomplish the same thing. OC-Inside (http://www.ocinside.de/go_e.html?/html/workshop/pinmod/amd_pinmod.html) has an interactive guide. This one works for the Applebred core Durons as well, which ranged from 1.4-1.8 GHz. Look about the same site for guides for the older Athlons and Durons.

What kind of core is it? This page (http://www.emboss.co.nz/amdinfosheets/athlon810/multipliers.html) should be able to give you a hand for multi changing on anything from a T-Bred onward.
