just curious has anyone ever changed the ram on a video card, is it a possibility. Can one desolder ram chips and put faster ram on a video card. is it that simple or is there more involved. If not, what would be stopping me from getting rid of the ramchips and getting faster ram that has better overclocking potential?....i hear people from time to time talking about switching ram as a choice but is it doable?.....

you cant just "desolder" them ... bga chips have their solder joint between pcb and chip ... you'll need a reflow oven for several k .. the problem is when you heat the whole card everything will flow .. you could do with some ir radiation based heating tho .. but that also expensive professional equipment

You'd also have to flash the bios. ddr latency/timings would be different. So someone would have to program/code a new bios first.
