I'm getting Visual C++ 2005 tonight from my school, dose anyone know if it's even worth bothering with getting? I have VB6 :( which as you know that is out datted

yes, visual C++ 2005 is very nice. I am of the persuasion that all programs written for windows should be fully managed code, and VC++ 8.0 (2005) is the only real platform for writing .net 2.0 C++ apps.

i would also reccommend looking into C# 2005 if you can. The more I use it, the more I think C# is the best language for windows programming.

OH Man, trust me, moving from VB6 to 2005 will be the best thing you EVER do. If Microsoft did one thing right it was the creation of Visual Studio 2005. I also have to agree with eshbach on C#. Once you go C# you never go back, Java is a joke compared to C#.
