ok, i will definatly be water cooling soon since the rev2 came out. so my question is which of these cases would be the best choice. i go to LANs a lot, btw.

Coolermaster Stacker
Lian-Li V1000

those are the only ones i seem to like, but if you guys have any suggestions, please speak up :D thanks. the case i've got now is a Tt Tsunami which i HATE.

The Stacker STC/810 is great for WC'ing (i dont like the 830) but... its steel. Its bludy heavy.

The V1000 is tiny :<
Also youll have to mod it to get some decent WCing in, whether its removing the lower HD racks to fit a PA160 or modding the top for a PA/BIP or something.

Some people seem to like the Gygabyte case... i think its incredibly fugly.

Some of the Silverstone cases are well suited to WC'ing.

LianLi pc-60 series cases are super easy to mod to fit a PA160 radiator.

V-1000 can be modded for a PA160 in bottom also, not as easy tho I believe.

P.s. I own both PA-160 and V-1000.

Regarding the stacker:

The 810 is better if you want to mount the rad on top - PSU is on the bottom and you have 2x 120mm fans next to the mobo on the back

STC-101 is better if you want to put the rad in front - up to a 120.2 realistically, 120.3 with just a dvd drive externally. PSU is at the top, and that means you have more space to work with, what withthe tubes from the rad at the bottom of the case and all (in most configs anyway)

i'm thinking a STC-T01. i could put the PSU on the top, a Bix2 on the bottom a bix1 on the back 12cm fan? could that work? make the loop go like....Tee Line-Pump-Bix2-CPU-Bix1-GPU-Tee

You dont need all that rad for your rig. A BIP II will do the trick, with room to spare. Plenty of it.

You can put it in the bottom (DD makes a shroud for this) or you can mount it in the front with those vibration-damping mounts for pumps.

Here (http://www.dangerdenstore.com/product.php?productid=211&cat=13&page=1) you go mate.

Its got no picture, and i havent been abel to find one, but basically whatit does is replace the grill at the bottom of the case, and you screw your BIP/BIX straight into it.

Edit: if you do get, pls post some pics!

stacker stc-101.

Some people say it's a heavy case, but having *just* picked one up today... I don't know, I'm starting to think there are a lot of people who need to spend less time typing and more time at the gym. Sure it's heavier than a lot of cases, but it's honestly not *that* heavy. To make sure this was a valid arguement, I tried tossing my current case on top of the still unopened box, and - surprise surprise - I could manage easily carrying it around. It was ungainly as all hell - being in total over my head me slightly worrying it would fall - but the weight itself wasn't an issue.

Probably not what you'd call ultra-portable though.. but if you're looking at full-size cases anyway... it's really more a *size* issue than a weight issue.

Well, i love mine, but i can think of other cases id get if i was carting it around loads.. then again, i dont have a car.

I love it to bits for how easy it is to install double rads in it (and triple with some effort) with 0 modding though.

Still, I eventually plan to get a U2-UFO Opty-120.3, i need the 5.25 bays... too many hard drives.

i have the lian li v2000, so much room its not funny. i have dual psu's, 5 cd drives, res. pump and two hd's mounted along with 6 total fans and i have tons of room left.

ddaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyng that's crazy. but the stacker is more pertyful :D creidiki, there is a case by mountianmods that is extremly small, its called the bobslay. have you seen it?

It's not the best looking case, but I have a Thermaltake SViking and removed the lower HD cage and cut out the plastic slats in front of the fan. Installed my rad on the back side of the front fan. It works great. The case has two fan speed knobs on the front, kept on low is really quiet, on high it sounds like it could fly ;) . The only thing I wish it had was a removable Mobo tray. It's steel and a little on the porky side, but not too bad. Install was easy though.

Edit... Also remove the cheap plastic fan brackets... man they rattled!

AYe ive seen the bobslay, but i need a 120.2/3 mount, floppy, dvd and 4 hard drives.. that sort of rules out anything that small :)

If no one has mentioned it, your perfect case is the UFO-2 by mountain mods

Hands down, the :worship: Lian Li PC-7077 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811112050). The Silver (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811112049) one is about $10 cheaper. :rocker:

yeah i've been at the mountianmods site many times. too expensive for me :-/. i would deftinatly get a UF0-2 if i had the money. i'm probably going to end up with getting a stacker STC-101. and putting that shroud on the bottm, that'd be very sick :D.

Here is a pic of the top of my PC-70 I got off ebay for $97.00 shipped. After a little modding to the top my BIX III & panaflos fit great! This this has to be one of the best cases for watercooling... cheep too! Don't get me wrong If you have the cash to spare UFO-2 moutain mods has a lot to offer, but seriously $300-350 for a case... OUCH! I would rather put that money into better hardware that would get me a better OC! I mean what is a case, but nothing more than a box to hold your hardware....Dang, some of the best OCers on this site don't even use a case!

It is really a very easy mod to do. First cover the top of the case with masking tape. Then place the shroud you will be using where you would like to holes to be. I centered mine. then using a #2pencil or fine felt tip marker trace the holes from the shroud onto the top of the case. I used a 36 TPI "teeth per inch" metal-very smooth blade to cut out the holes for the fans & I used a 5/32" drill to drill the holes for the mounting screws. When your done remove the tape and trim out the holes with edge trim. I got my edge trim from crazy PC, and it takes a little less than a foot to do each hole. In all it took me about an hour to do.
