hi

G.Skill USA is thinking handpick some good BH-5 UTT for XS member only

I will handpick some DDR500 2-2-2-5 3.1~3.2v stick and group sell on XS but i need to know how many of you think this is good idea

also there are three things need to know

1st all the handpick guarantee DDR500 2-2-2-5 3.1~3.2v on "ultra-d" motherboard. i will personally test it from over 1000 pairs.

2nd there is no refund for this, i am still discuss with digi4me since newegg is not going to do it for sure.

3rd if memory is DOA, I can RMA another DDR500 2-2-2-5 3.1~3.2v but after 7 days, the RMA item is only guarantee DDR400 2-2-2-5 1GBGH but not DDR500 guarantee.

the price i am still discuss with digi4me
i am think around 130~135 with first class mail with tracking number

who is everyone think?

also i need to let the XS owner know about it

outside of US might be a little bit hard

1st it is done by G.Skill USA not europe..
2nd the shipping is more expensive (of cause)
3rd if DOA is really hard to exchange :( (it is the most important part)
4th custom tax might apply because we are going to insure the package...

If they are handtested, no reason for RMA if they are packaged right.

right now i only have around 10 pairs does DDR510 2-2-2-5 3.3v 32M passed (why DDR510 because extra mhz for bias if my cpu and mobo is better)

i will post how to pay for it at the same time

but....it is kinda hard to hit 3.1v DDR500 2-2-2-5....

I mean if a company wants to sell stuff pre-tested & back it up like this, I'm all for it for users that can get it...

Good stuff G-Skill... Now I wish my 2 sticks of G-Skill UTT would do 250MHz @ tight timings all day long...

<-- must try some more settings if I ever get off WOW :-(...

Anyways, nice proposition & good luck...

Bh5 sticks cant be 1gb sticks trust me :) , and its 2x512mb.

Johnny Bravo: If he dont can send sticks to europe maybe i can help users to get the sticks to europe. I have a friend thats ship stuff for me from usa to sweden.

The main trouble is if he realy can find so many sticks that makes 250mhz+ with 3.2v for all of Xtreme users that need sticks or want sticks.

ok some news here!
becasue in our office doesn't have any CC machine and paypal account
digi4me is going to take all the payment for us
right now i only have about 20 pairs for now but i think there will be more pop out until this next monday since i still have a lot need to test
my test method is runing 3.3v 255 single stick 1st ( windows read 3.28v)
then for those passed 3.3v 255 i pair them up and test with 3.3v 254 2-2-2-5-7-13-2-2-1-2 with ultra-d motherboard at opty165 cpu
if 32M passed is good, if not -> back to TW

do you guys want some like..... speical spd (like ur name, or some weird thing lol) i can do that but cost extra 100,000,000 jk
no extra cost of cuz
i think within US is 138 shipped with FCM insurance with check or MO
for CC is extra 3% charge, paypal is 4%, CA tax is 8.25%
i will open a new thread for order tomorrow
outside of US i am still not sure yet but i will do my best
i think it is probably extra 30 for EMS but this i am not sure.

GStech,

Thanks for the offer but i'm out.
I didn't have any patience so ordered a set at a store in Germany and i don't regret it. (Gskill GH that is)
Only have it for an hour but i'm a happy camper with 250MHz 2-2-2-5 @ only 3.22V.

I haven't tried lower voltage yet. :)

well the point is i do believe 3.2v for 250 is good but i need to guarantee whoever buy this 500 from us will work any motherboard, CPU you know. so that is why i test at 255 3.3v (3.28v)

Burning in didn't give me what i hoped for: one stick died! :(
Only gave it 3.0V and let memtest test 5 loop overnite at 220MHz w/ an 80mm fan blowing over it.
This morning i got zillions of errors, restarting memtest uncovered more errors in all tests even at 200MHz.

Putting in my old 2x256 Hyper-X all was fine, trying 1 stick at a time learned that one is broken, the other one is ok.

What a pity, 3.0V is within margin isn't it?

You did give the sticks to low vdimm thats the problem, never burn in bh5 sticks with lower vdimm than 3.5v ;) .

Hmm are you sure thats sticks are bh5 -utt and not ch5 -utt?

bh5 is very very hard to kill maybe it was bad from the start.

Zeus
03-31-2006, 04:15 AM
I wanted to take it easy on this RAM a bit, do you think it died due to too low Vdimm?
That's pretty hard to imagine.
Afaik Gskill GH are all BH-5 instead of CH-5.

When i firts popped them in they did 250MHz at 3.22V completly stable, i even ran SPi 32M.

Thx for the info i dont think it was becuse of high or low vdimm(low vdimm was more a joke ;) ) , And why do i think they didnt die becuse of high vdimm..i realy realy triend to kill me Xtreem pc3200 bh5- utt sticks with high vdimm but it didnt work... another thing one from russian that have the WR with 2x512 sticks used around 4.1v and he did use the new Gskill bh -utt sticks. And they didnt die,the temp was around -10c on the sticks.

I think you got a bad stick that something was wrong with it from the start. What rev do you have on your board and what slots did you use? and what slot did the stick die in.

Zeus
03-31-2006, 09:56 AM
Yeah one was probably faulty from the start as the sticks didn't respond to any more voltage at all! (Errors increased actually)

I have the AD0 revision and the RAM was in the yellow slots, tbh i don't know in which slot the stick was that died.

Yeah BH-5 is supposed to be very voltage resistant, i don't believe voltage was the culprit here, i even had an 80mm fan blowing onto the RAM.

Strange how it was able to do 32M last night.

So when everybody gets these, should we start a new thread with each of our results or just keep it in here.
Also, G.S., do you know if they will run the same speeds on an intel board, i865?
Cause Im in the process of getting a PM rig together and these seem like they would be great in it.

Little update.
Im Priming at 260 right now, its been about 2hrs in or so and its still running.
Only changes Ive made was loosen TREF, RP and MAL, voltage at 3.55 with 3.5 BIOS selected.
As of right now Im still in a colosed case but I have a fan blowing from my side window, does anybody know of a good way to mount of fan over the RAM while still being in a case?

Obelisk79
04-20-2006, 05:39 PM
Build a simple fan shroud/duct to direct air directly over the ram? Might not look pretty but with some cardboard and packing tape it should be easy and effective. Just a thought.

I have seen people with fans screwed straight on to the motherboard over the RAM but their setup was outside of the case, does this mean for me to do that I have to have it outside?
Also, a little update.
At 260, Prime95 failed after 3hrs 50mins.
Im running Large FFT, is this the best one to test the RAM or is blend?

yes prime large fft best for testing memory (including cpu), I ran it for 7-8 hrs (2 loops), or else you can test wit spi32M for 3-4 times, if passed, it also passed prime.

Any more results?
Mine can do 32M 270MHz with 3.6V (mine are not from GStechnician)

At 3.7V i get loads of errors in memtest, didn't bother trying to stabilize, i don't think the sticks will take 3.7V

I got them to accept 3.5V+ after 1,5 hour of memtesting test 5 looping when it went from at least 4-8 errors per pass to zero per pass.

270MHz is a bit on the edge, perhaps burning in some more might make it 100% errorfree but i'm a bit reluctant to let it loop memtest all night at 3.6V.

Am i a chicken? :D

Im still trying to get 260 completely stable on mine.
I passed 32M but it wont go that far with Prime.
Voltage right now is 3.66 (3.6 BIOS selected).
Does BH-5 react to changes in timings as much as other ICs or just mostly voltage?

EDIT:
32M passed but fails after 2mins with Prime blend?
Whats going on here?

Zeus
04-22-2006, 11:33 AM
260 should be a walk in the park even at lower voltage.

Set every timing to auto except for the 2-2-2-5 settings, run memtest 86+ from bios and tighten the timings one at a time and rerun memtest 86+ after each change.

That's the only way to find out what holding you back.
Doing so i found that my MAL set to 8 was too tight, something i never thought about changing but it worked like a charm, i went from 256 up to 269 memtest stable.

Also, 3,66V is a bit much for 260MHz, start with 3,4-3,5V.

Last Viking, i'm curious what you can drag out of your sticks, c' mon man, show some sick numbers. ;)

I'm gonna play around some more with Data/Drive strenght to see if my sticks will take 3.7V, hoping to get a few more MHz outta them.

Man my mobo sucks it can only go to roughly 2.85 vdimm. Anyone have any ideas as to how far I should try to push it on that low volts?

you have to mod your vdimm, unless you got nothing on cas 2

Don't bother with 2.85V, it's way too little.

Get yourself a booster or do a Vmod.

Whats going on here?
humm that is interesting. i only test 32m realtime but not prime

Yea, I know its weird cause usually if I fail Prime that quickly, then 32M fails within the first 2 loops.
Any suggestions or should I just say that 32M is stable enough?

Alright.
Im going to spend today running some tests and I think if my results are decent enough, Im going to start another thread in XB.
Ill let you guys know and Id really like to have you guys post your results in there also.

have you tried pi32M 2 or 3 times and pass?
usually if I can pass pi32M over 3 times, it will pas prime large fft too.

260 should be a walk in the park even at lower voltage.

Set every timing to auto except for the 2-2-2-5 settings, run memtest 86+ from bios and tighten the timings one at a time and rerun memtest 86+ after each change.

That's the only way to find out what holding you back.

Stil need to brun in this sticks more.. this is with only 3.68v cant use more yet...3.68v is more like 3.62v set in bios on the Dfi ultra-D. The Venus dont overvolting the vdimm so much like the ultra-d do.. This is checked with meter.

More info will come later.

LV - why trc9? You're killing performance  The Venus doesn't overvolt due to it's 4-phase power ;)

I always used Trc 9 on my nf2 so its a bad habbit. I´m not after the best times also, Only a fast test to show how high they can go :), Thx for the info about 4 phase thing... maybe i need to change my Antec True Controll soon (20pins + 4)

Edit: Room temp was about 23c

I really like the custom part number in the SPD tab.
/me wants.

Your sticks are about the same as mine:

Nice time there :) , what vdimm is your setting in bios? + check with meter if you can for me :)

Many thx to "G.S Technician" for the big jobb to find good sticks.

Thanks mate.
Vdimm in bios was 3.6V +0.03V disabled.

I will check Vdimm with DMM next time i run 3.6V but i guess it's about 3.65ish.

K i think you have same vdimm like me then :) , 3.6v is about 3.67v+ real on ultra-d

is your cpu can pass that speed ? have you lower the cpu multi ?
maybe your mem is fine, but your cpu not stable at that speed ?

filmbot
04-26-2006, 08:01 PM
Yea, I know that the CPU isnt the problem, I dropped the multi to 9 and at that moment its underclocked.
It runs at 2.4 and right now its at 2.3.
I have higher volts running in it on account of the stories of high vdimm and low vcore.
Ill try to lower the volts and see if it gets more stable, which I doubt will help.
I have tried a lot of settings and drive strengths, but nothing has seemed to help.
Bachus said to try and run 8/2 for higher volts but that didnt seem to help.
G.S. or anybody have any ideas what settings may really open these things up on an Ultra-D?

That's the only way to find out what holding you back.

Messing around with all settings isn't exactly the best idea, just start of with everything on auto, also DRAM/Drive strength and set 3.4-3.5V

Tweak from there.
