interesting, it looks like they folded the fins together in more places. probably keeps the fins from bending as easily.

i'm waiting for the SLK-900.

I've been testing my rig with a slk800a and shin etsu G-751.
A volcano 9+ fan is inverted and blowing unto the cpu btw.

I ran Prime95 for 73 hours and my results are the following on Asus Probe V2.18.08... (A7N8X non deluxe)

Lows: (room door open and fresh air circulating)
CPU - 33C
MB - 25C

Highs: (room door closed)
CPU - 41C
MB - 32C

Idle: (door room closed)
CPU - 35C
MB - 30C

Since I replaced this heatsink with the aluminum one that comes with the Volcano 9, I was wondering if these are acceptable temperatures.

Any opinions?

Can't really tell you if those are good temps unless you let us know what your processor is overclocked to and what voltage ;)

But I would say your temps look about right as it is.

or you could give us the temps you were getting with your V9.

anyway, your temps look fine.

Heheh I'm a total noob... This si my first PC build and overclock.

Here are my stats:

A7N8X (non deluxe) 1001E bios
2600XP/333

L12 3rd bridge cut so the new specs
are running at 200FSB x 11 multiplier.

The CPU is at 1.675 volts (1 notch up from default
setting)

I have no NB cooling and left it stock.

I also did a sucky job at lapping the SLK800A.
It looks like there are some scratches in my attempt
to sand it down and it looks far from being a mirror
finish.

And my Volcano 9 fan is pushing air towards the CPU.

My temps in Prime95 with the Volcano 9 were anywhere from
38-44C CPU and 32-35C MB
