Would it be better to have Gaming files and OS files seperate on different HDs?

I was thinking of getting a 150GB Raptor or 2x74GB Raptor and put both my OS and Gaming files on it...

Then I thought about it... while Im running games, in the background my OS is also running.... Thus wouldn't it be better if I placed my OS files and my gaming files on seperate HDs that are not RAID together?

P.S.
Whats better Raid0 or Raid1?
Say Im thinking of gaming and storing data on the RAID HD...
I heard that RAID0 and RAID1 gives you the same benefits (Faster read, write) but RAID1 makes two copies and RAID0 spreads the data around
on the two seperate HDs (making it a Logical one)

I have 2 x 250gb Maxtor Diamond10 SATAII(300) 16MB Cache HDs
which I want to use for storage or gaming (by RAID or not  )
And I am thinking of purchasing 2 x 10k rpm SATA drives such as raptors
for my OS and Gaming files (by RAID or not  )

As you can see, I am terribly lost... All these stuff/specs on HDs are
:slapass: /kicking my ass :(

As for placing different programs/files on a comp, I'm not too sure there. I think theres a couple threads around here that have the same question. Placing a program on the faster hard drive is probably a better idea because of the faster read/write and seek times. A program that doesnt need fast read/write times could be installed on the second hard drive if you dont have raid. Raid 0 splits the file over 2 hard drives resulting in faster read times, and raid 1 just makes a copy. For performance, raid 0 is the way to go.

Put the stuff you want to run fast but don't care about on Raid0
Put the stuff you want very safe but not worried about speed on Raid1
and put stuff that you want both safe and fast on Raid5
I personally for just games go with 2x74GB Raptor in Raid0
and use the 2 x 250gb Maxtor for Storage.. Raid1 if you want everything extra safe...

How about the OS files?

As I said in the first post, wouldn't putting the OS files in the same Raid system or drives as Game files lower efficiency?

So would it be better for me to run one 36gb Raptor for OS files and 150gb or 74gb raptor for gaming?

OR

Two 74gb or 150GB raptor in RAID0 for both gaming and OS in the same RAID system?

*The new 150GB raptors have 16MB cache :woot:

2x74gb in Raid0 with both Games and OS is my suggestion

what do you think about 2 x 150GB Raptors?

P.S.
What can I use to make the Raptors more quiet and vibrate less?
Should I cover the drive case with akasa (sound dampening) material or something.... lol, pretty stupid idea, since it'll heat up pretty fast....

foam? What do you mean by foam???
Any links to the products I need to run my HDs with less vibration and noise?

(only thing I know is to use noise dampening material...)

yes, I see. foam tape... but where do I tape it?

I have a CM Stacker 830, so I gotta use brakets to put in my HDs
(Or a HD cage)
So tape it on the side where it touchs the surface of the HD cage
or bracket? I don't think there is space to tape on the side >.<

P.S.
If I could purchase a 150gb Raptor for a total of $310 CAD, is that a good price?

how about the space between the Drive and the Case...
and if in doubt, you can always just tape the drive to the side of the Case..
as for the Price.. yeah that seems about right..
