Sounds fair to me. Got most of a day to get limbered up so to speak.

Question - In the event that no-one gets the magic number exactly is it nearest person wins. Or are there no winners and the prices held over for another competition?

My take is that the magic number will be posted at 2pm PST tomorrow and at that point the competition starts. The first eight people to post scores which match the magic number exaclty (following the above rules) win the prizes. We have from now until 2pm PST tomorrow to get ourselves ready, re-install if need be, get clockgen ready, whatever..... Im I correct FUGGER?

It will be interesting to see what the number is as it might be easier to get using an older system running on the edge than having to underclock an uber one. Suppose that is the skill element; needing to know your system inside out and how it responds to different variables. See ya all tomorrow, bedtime for me!

If this contest ends before my replacement psu gets back from NCIX I will be angry at them. I lost the last XS contest I entered (easter egg picture hunt) because my parents called me to move stuff while the winning page was loading. Got back, saw it, was all ecstatic, went to post, and someone had just posted, 1 minute ahead of me :( [/micro-rant] Other than that, I'm in. :D

With a x1800/x2 3800, and a xp1800/9700 i like to think i'm well prepared for whatever the number might be.

If the worst comes to the worst, i can grap my media box (xp2500+ integrated mx440) and that should get some nice, low scores.

goreblast
02-25-2006, 03:58 AM
We dont know what score is that we have to get to win yet so chill Xassius. Fugger might assume (rightly in my opinion) that most people who will enter will be able to score more than 20k (thats 9800pro territory) with their current setup and therefore the target could be between 20k and 30k, who knows. Wait and see.

Would have to be the latest version of 3dmark downloadable from Futuremark otherwise you wonldnt be able to submit scores to the ORB (3DMark01SE Build 3.3.0).

Once Futuremark release a new build of a benchmark all the older builds are no longer able to submit scores AFAIK.
