can someone recommend a good DVD burner? that is not NEC brand I had bad experiences with NEC.My budget is around up to $80 but I'm looking to spend less.I'm looking for something that will burn a lot of DVDs and will be compatable with everything and reliable.I was looking at getting this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16827106019.
thanks

I've had excellent luck with the Pioneers and they are cheap now. I hear the best is the Plextor but almost double the money..
I have the 109 model, this is the 110 that replaced it:

Word on the street is the Nec 3550 or the BenQ 1640 (i think that's the number). I had a Plextor crap out on me just out of warranty, replaced by the NEC. Club.cdfreaks.com forums should point you in the right direction.

AFAIK BenQs 1650/1655 with the newest firmware are great. The only diffrence between 1650 and 1655 is that 1655 has LightScribe.

I have the Pioneer 110 and it runs like a dream - spins up a bit noisy but runs very quietly idling, and I've had no problems with it since I bought it. It also seems more solid than my old one (might just be me ).

I have noticed that lite-on drives seem to be a bit shorter than the other ones out there...

Are there any other manufacturers making drives this size?
