Before I head off to a lan party in April I've got a few things on my shopping list, one of which is some more ram. The ram I currently having in my sig works great and I'm still in the process of overclocking and tweaking my system to get everything right.

If I was to invest in another GB of ram to get me up to 2GB, which of the following would you advise:-

1) Another GB of the ram I already have to give me 2GB (4x512MB)

2) Sell my current ram and buy G.Skill 2GB DDR HZ PC4000 (2x1GB)

3) Sell my ram and buy 2x1GB of some other G.Skill or another brand of ram

Any advice would be appreciated :D

option 2 and 3 are better then 1. :) 2GB HZ is a good choice for your DFI NF4.

Hi. Thanks for your reply.

The HZ it is then, seems to be very popular and people speak very highly of it. Do you think it will easily reach 300mhz fsb like my LA does?

Last question, is 2x1GB is noticably faster than 4x512MB or would it only be noticable in benchmarking?

Thanks again :D

No, i guess the chance is 1 of the 200 kits, speaking of rock stable sticks.

2x1GB is faster then 4x512MB but not noticable in realtime applications, only in benchmarking.
But when you run 4x512MB 1GB LA, you won't reach DDR600 due the lack of your memorycontroller.

Can you please tell me what are the HZ's rated to as my LA's are rated up to 300mhz?

Thanks again.

Do you know if there are any on the horizon like my LA's which are certified up to 300mhz / DDR600?

300 is hard
even if ram can handle it, not all computer can run it that high
