i accidently crushed the edges of a few smds on my a64. a few of the contacts no longer touch, what exactly do they do, and should i try to fix them? and how exactly would i?

it will work fine without one or two of them. you stand more of a chance of damaging your chip further if you try to repair it, and those smd caps are hard to come by.

anyone know how much they have an effect on a chips oc potential?

The chip wont be as stable while overclocking, try it out and see. I know a few people who have a few of them totally missing and the CPU runs just like it would with them. PS, we live in the same city, I'm off greenhill and mount albion. :toast:

as far as overclockign potential my 3700 actually gained about 100mhz from the one smd i had knocked off.
