Are there any waterblocks that will fit on a naked x2 chip without any problems?
I was thinking about the mcw6000, but it looks like it will hit the socket holder.

I've got the MCW6000, and it's got a portion of the base raised where that part of the socket would be.

Scroll down a bit and you'll find a picture of the base.

look for the stepped version of the MCW-600x blocks for LGA775 - then pick up A64 mounting for it

I'm pretty sure that all of the MCW600x blocks are stepped. Correct me if I'm wrong, however.

Nope, only the socket A and the LGA 775 versions of the MCW600x blocks are stepped to clear socket cams.

What about the APOGEE? anyone try that?

The apogee is kind of designed for chips with the IHS on, you wont see any performance increase by taking it off... not that its an amazing block to being with, unless youre looking for something with negligible restriction for a really weak/silent pump.

i have a non-stepped mcw-6000, and I have no issue with a naked venice core

Apogee works, I am using one on my naked 170.

Take the AMD retention bracket off and any swiftech block fits fine.

Im using an Apogee and a TDX. I like the Apogee better. Cheap, perfect for 50mm*50mm pelt, and comes with cool mounting hardware.
