Alright so for my setup I got this radiator:http://lytron.com/standard/he_4000.htm It is very nice. Please not that thats not the EXACT one but its pretty darn close. :toast:

So anyway getting fittings for it has been a pain in the arse and still is. :slap: Right now the "SB" fitting is on it right now: http://lytron.com/support/ex_fittings.htm

And now I am stuck on a stand still for which fittings I should buy for it maybe one of the gurus here can help me. Please note that it has to be 1/2 inch fitting.

Unless you have a MD70 like that rig uses, then that raidator is a waste of your money.

HEHE thats not the one. By saying close I ment it was the same idea. IE stainless steel tubing, copper fins. But the one im using is 16X8.

What i meant is that entire style of radiator design.

This relatively lengthy article from Bill Adams (formerly of Swiftech, now at Coolingworks) will enlighten you on radiator design.

uh, Maxxx, what article?:stick:

What design exactly. All I see is a bunch of tubes and copper fins. Its only single pass too.

Are you going to use your MD30RZG-3 with this...because even that might not be enough for this huge Winding-Tube radiator. Heater-core style is beter for water-cooling

I am guessing the actual one is smaller.

But if you use it and cannot find correct fittings to your Tubing, It is advisable to sodler on your own Barbs

From that picture its atleast 10passes.. not 1

 Max would you mind explaining further though. I am not getting it

kamongear

Its 8 passes...

"The highest performing unit in this group is a good example of a high dollar water cooling radiator: Made by Serck in the UK, it has ½ in. connections, extremely low flow resistance (an aluminum stacked plate design with brazed fins and very low air backpressure) and great cooling performance. It is from the water cooling system of a piece of medical equipment and cost $15 off eBay with a pair of ½ in. liquid-tight quick disconnects. High performance does not have to cost big bucks."

The same thing my radiator was ment to do.

hope this clears things up.

The serck is single pass..

kamongear
02-19-2006, 12:15 PM
But this doesnt have more passes than a car rad does it?

kamongear
02-19-2006, 12:19 PM
It seems like the same concept as RAD A

MaxxxRacer

Car radiators are 99.99999% of the time singe pass.

Car heatercores are split between Single and 2 pass. Not sure the percentages.

kamongear

I dont understand how they can have 1 tube with no bends. The way I understand it right now is that you count 1 pass for each bend.

MaxxxRacer
02-19-2006, 12:28 PM
thats correct..

When you have one pass you just have a bunch of tubes going in the same direction.. really simple.

Go re-read the radiator section of my watercoling guide. You just need to read the second and 3 paragraph which are short.

Yup. THis radiator has the surface area of a monster core definately no car rad.

Can someone possibly give a diagram of how a car rad and heater cores work?

I Read it. You really dont think an md-30 could handle this?

MaxxxRacer
02-19-2006, 12:36 PM
car rads are like the lefthand picture i posted above. And PLEASE go read the radiator part of my guide again.. It updated it with new info that will answer your questions.

MD30 could handle it no problem.. but the radiator wouldnt be able to handle the MD30.

kamongear
02-19-2006, 12:39 PM
So you think too much pressure?

MaxxxRacer
02-19-2006, 12:40 PM
no... too much heat.

kamongear
02-19-2006, 12:42 PM
Then why the md-70? HEHE max you know this isnt passive and if ya know me you know that I am putting some MONSTER fans in here, 3 150mm 235 cfm monsters to be exact. That has to help a BIT.

MaxxxRacer
02-19-2006, 12:46 PM
oh wow.. wouldnt think you would be puting so much CFM through that...

With that CFM it should be fine, but if you were going to do that a car radiator would be better.

Hehe max I take it to the XTREME.Thanks for the help though I learned some valuable stuff here today.
