Its also got 90 horsepower haha..

The only Volkswagens i like are VR6's and Phateons, but the TDI is a great car for expensive gas prices plus you get a pretty decent Volkswagen interior

Romain have you ever driven a nice TDI powered car......i wouldn't look into KWs or other specs too much ;).......say the new Golf 5 2.0L TDI.........i own the 2.0L FSI myself only because it was a 4-6 month wait for the TDI but my oh my i drove both of them and the diesel is scary fast...................awesome car indeed :slobber: :slobber: :slobber: :slobber:

Sorry bro. But that comment is about as ignorant as those who say "ha ha!! That S2000 only has 140tq...."

mayby a little bite to late to say it. but anyway a skoda octavia has equal technology inside and does not cost as much as a jetta. for about 1000€ more you get a skoda octavia with the them engine and all extras they are avaible for this car (*ok, it's a special edtion (edition 100)*). this is awesome offer. i mean, execept of the desgin there it bo difference between this cars. they have the same frame (*golf V*), same engine and same electronic parts.

I like Tdi engines , great torque and excellent mileage.

Also, these engines respond very well to chiptuning ;)

I think 4everCS is in the US , no Skoda or Seat over there i think.
No Golf V either in the US IRC.

one thing that does suck a bit about TDI engines is that you seem to run out of revs too quick IMO :( just as it gets funky you gotta change gears but they are a lot of fun to drive :)

I've driven A3 2.0TDI, A6 3.0TDI, A6 2.4 V6, A4 2.5TDI, A3 1.6, and a lot more, and 2.4V6 and 1.6 were the funniest to drive. TDI engines has a lot of power @low rpms, but its funnier to me to hear an V6 petrol engine @6.5-7k rpms. :D

BTW i have a 1.4TDI car, it does over 800kms with 35€( 0.92€/litre ), that's good for people who does a lot of kms.

thought that in usa are skoda's avaible. when not, the jetta is anyway cheaper in usa then in europe.

ps. had a audi a6 c4 with a 2.5L tdi engine. it had for 180k km's no defective parts. now i drive a skoda superb 2.5L tdi (*actually, the engine is the same then in the audi a6 c5*) and actually have no problemes with it till know. that's the fantastic part about tdi engine's. they are nearly indestructible. th funny part is, when you drive in a skoda no one expect you to have 350nm torque and 177 horsepower :D . so most drivers of bmw's or audi get pretty scared when a skoda apear in theire mirror.

my personal best is 950 km on 1 tank (+- 50 liter diesel)
Funny thing is , bone stock my Tdi gets less mileage than hot-rodded :D (same driving style )

have you ever driven one?
They pull really freakin hard.
They have an absurd amount of torque just off of idle.

Know what you mean don...i love my B5 A4 1.6...you yanks didnt get this car not enough displacement for you :fact: but i tell you your missing out...at a modest 100 hp you would think that you are in for a slow grandma car or something of that matter, but i gotta say that this car is plenty fast for me, the fastest i have gone with it was 200 km/h (if for some reason and lack of judgement i decide to trust the speedometer 100 percent), and the acceleration is definately not bad...because the engine is so "underpowered" it can be pushed to the edge most of the time and is cool...the car is also relatively light...~1200 kg's (specs on the internet), high RPM range...i love it well enough of my off-topic rant...:toast:

TDI are fun engines i learned to drive on a 1.9 TDI Golf IV and i have to say the engine (depending which one of course) was very nice, nice low down torque for the occasional 2nd gear start ;) but i have to agree that they run out of RPM's wayyy too quickly...

for all you diesel guys the new Audio R10 (lemans racer) is a V12 diesel.. the engine makes 550hp, but makes an amazing 800ft/lbs of torque.. they had to completley redesign the tranny to not fail from the incredible torque..

and even funnier is the working engine RPM.. 2-6.5k.. Your normal lemans racer will rev anywhere from 10-15krpm (ive even seen 17 once or twice)

^^^^^ wrong sir! 15k is way high for a Le Mans prototype, Theres only a few cars (That I can count on one hand) that have a redline above 10k and below 13k ;)

Oh that R10 pulls like a horse tho... IMSA and the press said they havent seen anything since the GTP days that pulled so hard corner to corner. :)

I should have clarified that i was jumbling in F1 engines in there, which as you know sit in the teens for a good portion of the race (depending on the track of course)

The new V8 F1 engines are expected to run upto 20K once they have tuned them a bit more :O :O

My friend has a gold GTTDI golf thats pretty quick for a car that can go 60+mpg on the motorway.
Great car if you do lots of miles.
But as I dont do many ill stick to my 7500rpm VTEC :D

Holst, you have a S2000?

^don.k's^

An s2000 does more than 7k5 rpm... doesn't ??

MaxxxRacer

old ones did a little under 9k...

newer ones have redesigned power curve because ppl didnt know how to drive them (they got scared when it got near redline, which is where all the power is)

I think the newer engines redline at 8200..

What do you guys think of the Jetta TDI cars from 1999-2004? Redesign was in 2005 but it gets a little too expensive for me.

upwards towards 21k was possibly in 2006. 19k this year.
