View Full Version : Cpu Die emulator, but with peltiers instead of a resistor

My question is, can I effectively create a cpu die emulator with the use of a peltier? For example an 225watt version, and crank it down to meet wattages of cpu's ?

Would this work? and if so, how could I calculate how much wattage is being emitted ? If Im able to use a peltier, than i'll prolly go with a variable transformer to adjust the wattage.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I know most persons use resistors since they are cheap.

One of the method which I know to measure the power consumed by the peltier is using multimeter.

the formula is P = I . V
P = Power (wattage)
I = Intensity (Amp)
V = Voltage (Volt)

To know the voltage you need to make the Volt meter parallel with the peltier.
To know the amperage you need to make the Amp meter series with the peltier.

But I don't know can the peltier work like a heater.

sorry if I'm wrong.

Best regards

I made one:

Result:
works great if you just want the temps, but it's not stable, not stable enough for a good reviewing or tech data refrence.
Also, pelts are kind of fragile, it will die if there is not enough cooling.
