Are you using PearPc to run it on? I tried a earlier version and it was so unstable but a great idea if it works.

No, a patched DVD natively installed.

I have OSX86 installed on my PC too. It was the Marklar release that is the DVD install disc.

Anyways, I named my main HDD OSX86 too lol.

I would love a method to doing this if you wouldn't mind. I would love to have a 3ghz Mac w/ 7800gtx :D
But seriously do you have a link or how to for it?

11. Warez/Pirated Software
ABSOLUTELY NO discussion or posting of Warez (Pirated Software) or links to Warez sites. All such sites are illegal and pose a threat to our continued existence.

XS likes to err on the side of caution....especially considering what Apple likes to do to websites that even allude to providing information.

It is assumed that all that post re: native OSXx86 have Dev Kits designed for VMWare/PearPC/whatever and have extensively modified them as to run them natively on a non-Dev Kit PC.

:slapass: Never though of it that way but okey dokey. I was thinking as I have a copy of OS 10.3 sitting around that I could give it a go. I didn't realize it was a pirate dvd install not just a VMware style thing.

its a Dev Kit that was patched.........
My laptop has much more functionality. wired ethernet works, ac97 works on one channel....working video wth full acceleration.

So I guess I will just wait for some one to figure out dual boot on my new iMac. Why not just run Darwin on FreeBSD ? only thing missing is Aqua wouldn't it be easier to just build a icon kit to look the part for that than reverse engineering the whole install?
Though I do understand it is just to say you did but still.

and people thinking a 3ghz pc with a sli'd 7800gtx, keep dreaming.

Theres no 3d acceleration yet, amoung many many other problems to work out.

nvidia video cards are not supported right now, only ATI 9600, 9800, x850 can get CI and QE

Marklar is designed on the 915 Chipsets, for those who have P4GD1s with Dothans could check it out. Marklar is SSE2 prepatched

this mobo supports both CI and QE. I bought this because it identically matched the one the developers used.

i would prefer OSX over windows, but the 3rd party support just is not there for thing like games and applications. If that were to change, i would make the switch. same with linux

Do you know if there has been a sussessfull install on a MSI K8N neo2 Platinum? And what bios they were using then?

I've tryed both 10.4.1 and 10.4.3.

OSx86Project (http://www.osx86project.com) is the place to visit to find out what is happening in the entire OS-X-on-x86 camp.

Yes, it initially started when a developer leaked one of the devkit builds to the internet, not knowing that each individual OSX build issued as a devkit was fingerprinted. Needless to say, the offending developer is a developer no more. Apple have also come down hard on OXP in recent weeks, and after the moderators removed articles & links leading to how-to's & the like, they were left alone.

As far as things currently stand: the latest 'Universal' build of 10.4, as provided with the Intel iMac, the MacBook Pro and the Core Minis, has been patched to run on a very small set of board & CPU pairings, some better than others (the closer your PC is to the Intel based designs, the better it runs). Expect little or no support for onboard devices that hook through a non-Intel chipset. Those devices that do work, operate under Darwin's VESA30 level driver pack (ie, barely). Accelerated 3D (Aqua, Quartz Extreme) UI enhancements are available only to reference designs of cards & GPUs currently used in Intel Macs, plus a couple of other older models.

There are individual efforts attempting to develop drivers to overcome the above problems, but they are slow and hampered ... it could be many many months, maybe even years before we see a 'truly universal' Mac OS X. And rest assured, any time someone gets close, Apple are going to come a'gunning. They've said they don't care if people run Windows on Mac hardware, but will actively fight attempts to run Mac OS X on non-Apple hardware.

(No, you won't ever see Mac OS X for generic PCs in the shops, at least not whilst Jobs is still in charge.)

Until fullly-DirectX-compliant VMware reaches OSx86, expect zero support for gaming. There will be NO support for DirectX under Mac OS X -- this is one thing Bill & Steve B are adamant about. As the MacIntelintosh becomes more commonplace, more game foundries will do ports for OSx86, with the most likely switch being away from DX and towards OpenGL.

There's also plenty of work going on in the opposite direction, too -- getting Windows XP to boot on an Intel Mac. Whilst a few enterprising teams have managed to get Knoppix booted, and then using VMware to get XP going that way, they still have little or no 3D support. The primary goal of getting Mac hardware to dual-boot into XP is hamstrung by Apple's use of EFI (Extensible Firmware Interface) and by their not including the BIOS Compatibiity Support Module. Again, there are teams trying to fill this void the hard way but they are slow and hampered by insufficient technical data.

So there you go :D
