I'm finally getting rid of the winnie! (that thing sucked! I could only get about 400 mhz out of it on a good day) I'm trying to decide if getting dual core is really worth it or not, does it overclock just as easily as the singles? My concern that if you have 1 strong core and one weak core your obviously going to be limmited to the capacity of the weak core. Also I was looking at the stepping charts and they all seem to do rather well, is there any preference on a particular stepping? Thanks for the help as always!!!

with newer 0550 upmw stepping, yes dual core rocks! Easy 2700 mhz.....

Also I would never go back to single core ...so smooth. :D

If you have the cash, go for a 165. If not, get a 144.

Any point in getting the 170? is the extra multi worth it, I almost feel like I'll be downgrading from a 2ghz chip to a 1.8 (even though there are 2 of em there, most the time it will make little to no difference)

I just sold a 165 0551VPMW in favor of my trusty old 146 CABNE 0530APMW :)

Multis are good because you can always go down, its just a little bit of headroom and one reason why I bought a 175. You can also get one with a 10 multi or 9, all depends on how good your RAM and MB OC. The higher the better, obviously, but it also buy the cheaper chip with the lower multi.

yeah I thinking about just staying single core untill am2, but I'm really looking for the overwhelming reason to go dual core now, I just cant seem to find it, I play games and there is little to no improvement with dual cores. I dont really do to much multi tasking aside from wow, and TS running in the backround and the occasional alt tab to check a website (and the winnie handles that just fine).... anyone have anything?

If your going to upgrade to AM2 as soon as it's out I say stick with single core for the moment it's only a couple of months

If your going to wait for a while before going AM2 then get a dual core now or when everyone goes AM2

Personally I'm thinking of keeping my winchester 3000+ till AM2 or upgrading to dual core now and holding off on AM2 for a while
