View Full Version : MP-05 PRO or G5 Storm : How much actual difference between them

I am not sure there has been any formal reviews of AquaXtreme's MP-05 Series, except for user reviews such as on this forum.

At almost the same price range, the MP-05 PRO and G5 Storm are currently the top performing CPU blocks.

Yet which one is beter. Most people would say STORM, simply because of its history of being the best, yet the MP-05 PRO has many more PINS than the storm. Also does anyone know how different the pressure drops are. And if the MP-05 PRO would have beter performance at lower (~<1GPM) flor rates.

Thanks

Almost the same price? Your looking at a 150 dollar difference.

Storm doesn't have pins. It has jets, and you prolly mean the swiftech storm, not the G5. G5 is solid silver and hella expensive.

I think u mean g4? G5 is what's in my sig and not gettable except through cathar who isn't making any atm.

I think procooling or systemcooling reviewed this block some time ago. And Storm prevailed, but I don't know if that was against the Limited Edition.

It wasn not against the limited edition... the LE just came out 2 weeks ago and is probably much more comparable against the Storm. I'm hoping that Maxxx can put up some comparo's since I don't have a Storm to judge it against. ;)

I don't think there ARE any comparos for him to link u too... I was looking the other day and didn't spot any...

guys help me out .. tomorrow i'm doing an order and cant decided between Swiftech Storm G4 and AquaXtreme MP-05 Pro LE .. the price isnt important ..

the other componets are;
50z pump
120.2 rad
res
tygon 1/2" tubing

The storm is tried & tested. The LE is a great block, but exactly how it performs in relation to a swifty storm is unknown. And its slightly more restrictive. In the end, its down to personal preference.

Restriction difference dont really matter if you dont have other blocks it can affect... btw, you do realize that rad is incredibly overspecced for just a cpu, right? I mean, look at the rig in my sig...

later on i will add a gpu to the loop .. but for now my 7800gty 512mb is doing great with stock cooler ..
hmm, i think i will go with MP-05 Pro LE - i'm always buying things wich are not comercialy top rated ;)

Theyre both great blocks, and regardless of any performance difference which wil be shown when maxxx sets up his testing rig, any temperature/performance difference between the 2 would be unmeasurable in a normal rig unless you were trying to squeeze every last ounce of performance out of it with an iwaki on it.

yea, good point .. they even look the same .. later, if i add an mp-01 to the loop, will 50z manged to keep a decent flow rate, since u mentioned that mp-05 is a bit more restrictive ..

Even with an MP-05 and an MP-1 its not a problem at all, see gocchin's rig...

Its mostly that if you were looking for the very last .01c of performance for those last 10mhz, then an MP-5 could lead to marginally higher temps in your GPU, compared to a storm. But again, its like trying to count angels on a pinhead, when youre talking about those levels then bends in the tubing, ambient temps and whatnot would probably have a much larger effect...

hmmmm is the G5 much better then the Storm?

Anyone got links to review that pit these waterblock against each other?

P.S.
Solid silver? wtf? the G5 doesn't look that good (looks like its homemade)
but its made outta silver... does silver conduct heat and dissapate it as good
as copper?

The G5 is considerably better than the G4. The Swifty Storm is an improved G4, and is roughly between them.

If you have cash to splash pm cathar and splash down the price of a CPU on a G7 :)

Silver works even better, thats why it was limited run and amazing. The G5 is a great insane block, but unreachable. G4 vs MP, get the MP, cheaper and then the rest of us can decide on your results. :)

I will have the comparison between Pro, LE and storm up as soon as humanly possible.

Now would be a good time to become inhuman ;) Just joking - I have all my blocks sorted now :slobber:
