Here are the reviews on both! The Prom. (http://www.xtremesystems.org/mricee/images/myweb4/prometeia.htm) and the Vapo (http://www.xtremesystems.org/mricee/Vapochill%20PE/Vapochill%20PE.htm)

If you go with a Vapochill i got a socket 478 PE that im wanting to sell... works perfect.

I have a Vapo PE, yes the prometeia gets colder, a my neighbor has one. Tried my chip in it and it made no difference.

Get the prometiea if you want the coldest, the the vapo if you want the easiest out of the two.

I just got a P4 to AMD kit for $24 for my PE, im switching to AMD. The prometiea's are a lot easier on AMD chips also as far as less chipping.

If you're concerned about upgradability, well short of a conversion to say r404a, you can't really. BUT i would tell you to buy a prometeia, even if a Vapo PE will allow you to OC exactly the same right now. My reasoning is based on the trend of cpus to produce more watts of heat as they become faster and more advanced. In the future, the Vapo PE may not be on par with the prometeia for cooling and overclockability.

I do not agree on that - as the CPU loads get higher, the VapoChill is the one that can remove the biggest loads of heat. I know the Prometeia can sustain a lower temperature, but if you remove 150W of heat with it, it will get extremely hot on the compressor and consume insane amounts of power...

If I were you I would buy the cheapest Vapo and fill it with R404a - that unit will outperform both of the above-mentioned anyway at a much lower cost. You can see my other thread about that here (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?threadid=8470&highlight=vapochill)

So you're saying that If I get my Vapo Classic charged with R404a it will get my temps way lower?

Any further info on that? cooling on the compressor, charging amount, etc.?

Yep, I saw It :D

I'll just contact some local "freon compressor master" to chat about ;)
