Hi,

What would be the best headphones for the x-fi xtrememusic with a £50 pound max budget, (especially for listening to trance/dance/house music) need to be over ear and closed and possibly have an in line amp

thanks

50p for over the ear + inline amp? I don't think that exists. Maybe an e2c might do you good?

Save your money and get something worth while.

I would recommend the low-end Grado stuff: SR60 or SR80

I second that, headphones last forever.

I'm not much of an audiophile, but my Speedlink Medusas do me well... they might be slightly over your price range, but for a cheap(ish) pair of headphones they work well, although you do need a big head to wear them comfortably. If you just want headphones, maybe some lower end sennheisers? I agree though, if you want to get heaphones, spend the cash for some that will last. After shelling out you'll never buy another cheap pair again.

I really like my Audio-Technica A900s with my Xtrememusic. I got mine for around $150 (used). The A500s are less expensive, but still good.

http://www.audiocubes.com/ sells them...I'm not sure who else does. If you're looking for used, you might check out the head-fi For Sale forums http://www.head-fi.org/ .

The Grados will be good for music, but I hear have a limited soundstage, so will not be very good for gaming.

I have an Audio-Technica ATH-A900 as well, with an X-fi fatal1ty. It is amazing. I suggest the HD595 or A900, or if you can't afford that, an HD555 or A500. Also, if you don't use an amp I would suggest the A900 or A500 because they have a lower ohm rating than the HD555/595.

I went with the HD555, awesome headsphones for the price, I got mine for about 100 USD shipped brand new.

Grados SUCK for gaming. I use grado SR60s with a headroom total airhead amp out of my x-fi xtreme music and it's horrid for gaming. Soundstage is total crap. I'm saving up for some ATH A900s.
