Hey, I've been out of the computer scene for a few months after I built my system. I've been seeing some new things that I can't find answers to.

First, What is AMDs AGOGA processors all about? Can't get anything out of the AMD site.

Second, What the heck is folding? Granted I haven't looked this up yet, but did I miss something? I have a friend who uses NeoClient; trying to hack the XBox encryption, similiar?

More probably to come later...Depending on the response of these two.

The AGOGA is the stepping of the chip. I really havent been lookin a whole lot much lately so I will leave that to others to explain that I am sure could do better then I.

As for Folding! :D

Folding@Home is a genetics research program basiclly.

Check out this thread (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=664) For tons of links.
There are links in there that go to the F@H home site where you can read up on all the details on it.

And btw, Welcome to the Xtreme!

1st off, sHoHaN, Welcome to Xtreme!:D

You'd receive a better response to the Amd question if you post it in the Amd forum here Amd (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=58) and be a little more specific about what it is you're wanting to know about it and give the processor specs. I recognize the stepping, but don't remember which chips were coming with it. As for finding out info on the steppings in general, you'll only find that stuff in these forum type settings and hardware review sites. Certain venders like Newegg (http://newegg.com/) will advertise their current steppings to attract sales from enthusiast like us who converse within forums and elsewhere and share our experiences with certain steppings.

As for folding, my buddy IFMU has already posted a link to a thread that will provide you with all the info you need to know what F@H is and why we all do it. There is a competition between teams for points assigned to the work units given out, so the faster your computer(s) can produce finished wu's the more you help your team grow in the stats. It is also a way of finding out or comparing the ability, speed, stableness, etc... of your rig(s).
Give it a read and hopefully you'll decide to join in on our F@H team, we'd enjoy having you there:)

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'll take a look at the link, IFMU. Thank you. As far as the AGOGA question goes your right about the putting it in the AMD forum. I didn't even think about it. Thanks Tweaked!
