well ever since i upgraded to my opteron 146 ive had major stability issues and havent been able to get INTO windows past 280mhz on my opteron and memory no matter what settings i did...

here's my system

DFI LP UT NF4 ULTRA-D
OPTERON 146 0540CABYE
GeilONE TCCD 2.5-4-4-8 @ 303 rated

... so i started benching 3dmark06 ... i started at stock 2-3-3-6 2ghz 1.5v and it benched 3dmark06 fine...

so i moved up to 2.5ghz, 2.5-4-4-8 1.5v on a 180 divider everything else stock.. it booted to windows, ran 3dmark06 just perfectly....

.......

no here's the weird thing...

i decided to go for broke.. so i set it to 300mhz (3x10) 1.5v +104%, and then memory to 2.5-4-4-8 (180 devider) and kept everything else stock except i used 15/17 instaed of 7/auto on the TRC/TRFC where everything else was original startup values..

well it started up into windows with no reboots, hangs or anything.. and it ran 3dmark06 until 3dmark06 crashed but not windows...

so why now? i know its not gonna be stable.. but why is it now that i can finally boot into windows past 3ghz?

Looks at the babe...hear a voice far away...looks at the ass...and the voice gets louder...

why can I boot into 3ghz now?
Back to desktop.

Hum, computers are strange, sometimes changed a little value on memory can do all the difference in the world.
Some who get coldbug, change drivestrength and suddenly can get 200-300mhz more.

I can bench at 2870mhz but can only run 2747mhz prime95 stable.
Thats good enough for me however.
Dual core rocks.

When was the last time you tried for over 280? probably close to when you bought it right? Its probably due to the fact that you've burned in the procesor to some extent. I actually do this with all the procs I get, I find the max stable speed and run prime for like 48hrs, then try clocking it higher, and believe me it helps alot. my CAB2E opty 148 used to only get ~ 2930 32m stable now it gets 3025 :)

Also, depending on your cooling, you have some voltage room left, if your on stock air I'd say don't go for any more but good air/water should be able to handle 1.6 or so I'd say.

i purchased the memory and proc 2 months ago.. and last time i tried 3ghz or around it was 3 weeks ago.. im running an xp90 non copper with a panaflo 92mm fan. i forgot to mention my memory is 2.9v with a 92mm fan on top blowing air.

Max oc just increases over time as the proc is burnt in. Its just one of those great little suprizes!

I've NEVER had an oc decrease.....If you are running WAY high vcore and the proc is on its way to processor heaven then maybe...but I've never personally experienced it
