SR's #s show that its only 11% more reliable than the other drives in the pool.
My 7200.8 just failed. I read a lot of people have had failures too. I don't k now what to do but RMA. But this feels like the old days when I RMAed my Deathstar 3 times. I'm just waiting for my next failure pretty much because I know it will fail soon?

How long ago did you buy it?
What was Storagereview's rating of the 7200.7?
I am building an array of 3x 7200.8. Crunsh-testing for quite some time during the last 2 months. No problems yet.

According to filtered and analyzed data collected from participating StorageReview.com readers, the Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 is more reliable than 11% of the other drives in the survey that meet a certain minimum floor of participation.
According to filtered and analyzed data collected from participating StorageReview.com readers, the Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 's predecessor ( Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 ) is more reliable than 85% of the other drives in the survey that meet a certain minimum floor of participation...
I k now the 7200.7s were damn reliable. I bought my 7200.8 based on Seagate's past reputation and my experience with their older drives.
I'm willing to try a new 7200.8 but currently my situation is horrible. Seagate makes me pay $24 for an advanced RMA meaning I get a drive before returning my current drive. I have no extra SATA cables because my parents threw away my DFI box while I was up at school meaning I lost every extra cable. I have no ride to Fry's so I can't just buy something temp and return it =(
I just want to maek sure that the 7200.8 problems can be resolved or whatever... or maybe a new batch of them are better?

I hope that's true, but I'm p issed as :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: at my 7200.8
Don't know what to do. I can only go to Fry's to purchase a temporary drive and then RMA my 7200.8
