View Full Version : what is the best program to image a hard drive

I need a program that will allow me to make a complete image of my main harddrive afetr i have my windows installation and programs installed. I want to make an image and be able to load that image at a later date if something happens to my current iinstall gets corrupted. I would like to do this on an external hardrive. i have a western digital wd800b015-rnn dual option backup 80 gig drive. what is the best program to do this? Thanks in advance for your help.

Acronis true Image is VERY good alternative ;)

i don't think ghost will allow me to make a complete iso of everything and then install from that image. i will take a look at acronis

^^^ Ghost 8.0 which is DOS based will allow you to make a complete and full image of your HDD. I use it all the time for clients systems when i work on them.

Another happy Ghost user reporting in. I have heard good things about Acronis in the press, but don't know anyone who is using it in large-scale production.

Ghost up to ver 8.05..after that it's bought out by symantec and isn't as good imo..9 something is the latest version in case you go looking for it..

I know that you can do that with Nero, but I'm not sure how good it is.
