A while ago the suggestion was brought up to run a new GP but to lock one part like the GPU into place. or to get a cheap card and to get as much 05 scores as possible seeing as it stresses the GPU the most.

Now I have found a GPU for 39 dollars, free 3 days fedex shipping. the only problem, it's not a directX 9 card.

What do you guys think?

I also found this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814122223
Free shipping 65 dollars.
but only PCI E cards

Then I found
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150059

69dollars, free shipping :)

What say you guys?

I'm for a card that has PCI-E and AGP variants with identical performance. That way Lev wont be excluded.

if you guys have suggestions, please post so. But I couldn't find a 6200 on AGP ...... a shame. (btw if we do go for one, we need a decent one so not a 64bit memorybus or something. Nono a normal card.

the problem is this one 6200 is 3 times more expensive than USA nearly the price of 6600gt in usa i dont have that kind of money just participate in a competition i think is better as we did it the last time byt creating groups low mid high range in cpu and video and cooling

The problem with using turbo cache is that it is based off the system memory. We increase mem speed, its mem speed goes up (i think). Those of us with bh5 or 2gb sticks would be srewed, the ones with tccd would probably fly.

You would need 2 sections AGP and PCI-E. Why not make it a level playing field and use all PCI?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814140027 PCI FX5200 $57 + shipping Full size
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130188 PCI FX5200 $49 + shipping Half size
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814130255 PCI FX5500 $54 + shipping Half Size

I think it would be an awesome contest, and I'm sure we could get a bulk discount or find it cheaper.

haha PCI would be fun...what about like a PCX5750 and then the FX5700

lol pcx5750, nvidia is probably glad nobody remembers that those ever existed.

They aren't to poorly priced though, that could be good if we split it up AGP and PCI-E.

These would have been perfect:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102415 x300se could be fun as well, 4x2 goodness.

I say PCI 5200/5500
LOL
250MHz Core
400MHz DDR 64bit 128MB
4 pipe lines
what a beast! lol

I'm not liking the idee of spending money @ this. It allready asks a lot of money to get my current system, so... I stay with the classes system like I said in previous thread.

I think this is a good idea. Would be relly fun. This does not only makes those with the most expensive system able to win.

I think we can arrange it like this:

We choose a spesific card for each categori, that all thos who are competing must use. I think the cards should cost less than 60$
PowerColor Radeon 9250 128MB AGP seems very, very good for the AGP-class. I think it's good to choose a common card that can be bought every where.

The categories:
AGP
PCI-E
PCI

And we will give prices for:
Highest benchmark in the different categories (I agree that 3d05 is the best)
Creative award for cooling, v-mods or other creative stuff

Well, then again, who will win? The one with the best cpu -> Dual cores or FX steppings, Dothan. VGA clocks aint everything. And still, VGA clocks is depending on wich cooling u use.

exactly that is why i said is better to use our HW not buying anything like the last GP

high class/ mid class/ low class
sub zero cooling/water cooling/ air cooling

so everyone is in their category competing with ppl in their category the best one wins easy

now its still luck of the draw, by who gets a good one and who doesn't, and who can shell out the most for best cooling... not to mention CPU still matters. I personally don't have 40 bucks (or 60 or 70) to blow on a new video card to compete in a competition i'm predestined to get owned in

Jebus why screw the whole setup from the creator of this contest,?(Troman)
His next gp sounded great, with teams and with a nice set of rules that made every competitor important...
let us stick with something like that, to respect him a bit..

From what i heard , they putted Troman in a sort of Insta-ban,
He can post but nobody can view any of his posts...
Hes been called a trouble member

Ahhhh, global ignore!

Okay, anybody remember the name of the thread so I can search it? (will that even work?)

Entity_Razer

I don't think so. Since he is set to global ignore no one can see his posts and if he is topic starter(which he is) your screwed :)

yeah, which is why I wish the MMouse hadn't been set to Global Ignore. He started some great threads, and he had alot of good things to say.

What did Troman do?

I miss Jason, he is always online and knows so much. The DI forum is like half as active without him.

Actully, when you put it that way I agree with you

and DragonOrta I totaly agree with you. Banning MMouse is one thing, but delete his posts is just horrible.

Can anyone post how Troman GP system where working. I am very willing to compete in a kind of low end hardware compo :D

Why not just use any thing that will not score more than 2500 on 3dmark05.

jellybeard999
01-29-2006, 04:42 AM
why not give a base 05 score - say 3k...

so if someone scores 1.5k stock, their scores are doubled , 6k stock, theyre halved etc etc ???

Set the computer at stock everything. CPU, RAM and their native timings, GPU stock. Run the test(whether it's 06, super pi, 05, whatever) Then do your OC'in and what you increase is your score.

I know everyone @ XS is honest, so the stock scores aren't going to be faked.

Whenever the XSGP:2 takes place, I'm up for it (Won an OCZ DDR Booster in the last one).

Think the last way was just about right. Let people know what category they are in before they start to run benches though.

I'll be entering 2 systems (If it's allowed. If not I'll probably stick with the old rig, as it's expendable:eek: ). The same one as in XSGP:1 (1700, 1GB CH-5, 6600GT, NF7) and my new rig (X2-4200, 1GB CH-5, X800XT ASRock DUAL SATA2)

Count me in also - I think the idea of everyone buying the same card - the way saaya did it a while ago is the best - gives a level playing field.
