I have them running at 270MHz 3-4-4-8 2.65v with my 165, and having a hard time getting them stable here or a 166 divider for 245MHz. I've already found the correct drive/data strength for my setup (weak2/2) and setting 2T, raising volts, loosening all secondary timings etc doesn't help stability.

But for some reason I decided to set TREF to 200MHz 7.8us in A64 tweaker, and it decided to work. I got through the whole level in far cry that I was having a tough time just starting up, so I set all timings back to reasonable values and it still worked. That TREF is equal to 0016 and 0064, only 0016 worked. I'd be fine with this, but at this value my bandwidth is less than 1500MB/s and latency is over 150ns. I've been trying the rest of the values, looking at the table on dfi-street as I go along and none want to work as well as 0016..

The problem only occurs in games, and I'm wondering if you have any specific values to try to speed up the process? Or maybe my sticks are defective and don't want to hold data for a long time..

edit: here is my list so far of values that don't work:

0908
1032
1168
3632
4128
4672
0064
2560
3684
4196
4708
0776
0780
0016 (works but horrible performance)

Not a G.Skill rep but try setting your drive strengths to Auto and using Tref 3684 (100mhz 1.95us)

what bios are you using ?? I'm using the FX60test beta (which IMO is based on the 623 ver ?)

Looks like Major got it covered already :)

I use Tref 1816 (100MHz 1.95us), Drive/Data Strenghts on AUTO, MAL/RP on AUTO (or 7ns/5ns) and 623-x BIOS. I used IDENTICAL settings for 3700+ and Opteron 150...

Are you sure you need Command Rate 2T to run them @ 275MHz? I don't think it's neccesary

I've found the optimal drive strengths, auto set them on normal and it's much worse than the weak2/2 that I have set now. I measured the amount of time it took for each combo to crash Far Cry steam level, I tried all 12 using weak settings. My settings lasted a half hour while auto about 3 mins. I've tried 3684 (it's on the "doesn't work" list) but haven't tried 1816.

I don't need 2T to run at 270MHz, I just had it there because I was trying to get stable.. after 0016 TREF worked I put all other settings back to decent levels (1T, 8 Tras, 9/7 mal/rp etc). I am on 704-2BTA BIOS.

Right now I'm at 0648, or 0516 (can't remember) and I'm crossing my fingers but it seems to work OK. I've gone farther in my current far cry level with these than I've been able to with other settings and played a bit of CoD2 as well. A64 tweaker says it's "166MHz 15.6us" but in reality I think it's 166MHz 3.9us

This has been a pain in the ass to get stable, wonder why mine was so difficult while you guys had it so easy? I'm just unlucky I guess :( Just hoping this setting actually works..

edit: 0648 didn't work and neither did 0516. trying 0388 now

Failed at only 225MHz and default TREF.. any gskill guys out there?

When my ballistix come back I'll probably end up just using them rather than selling, if I can make them stable of course.. I've tried almost every TREF and the only stable one gives me 1.3GB/s bandwidth :gay:

edit: WTF OMGz0rrz I think I have bad RAM? It just dawned on me that everytime far cry crashes it shows the address where the error was.. so I :banana::banana::banana:ed around in it for a while trying to get critical exception and the failed address is the same as the one in the screenshot above!

The shot in the background is the ss above and the critical exception is the one I just got. I'm thinking I need to RMA and just wasted about 48hrs of my life.. someone want to confirm that?

do you try any other test before? normally i will not recommend to run memtest86+, but for bad address, set it on DDR500 3-4-4-8 2.5v and run memtest86+ to see any error appear. Dynamic idle cycle counter enable is better then disable. also, your trc and trfc is bit high, lower to 7-13 will better. I use 3684 most the time FYI

7 Trc never works for me  it will fail SPi 1m lower than 9.. trust me I've tried everything from 7-16 trying to make it work. I also had DICC enabled for a while a few weeks ago back when I thought they were working fine at 270.. turns out CS:S just doesn't make it crash while Far Cry, BF2 etc do.

I've also tried 3684, first value I used because I saw everyone else was using it. I'll run memtest, but in the past it's never picked anything up for me.. I guess I'll just loop test 5 overnight and while I'm at school tomorrow.

Here 4196 and 4708 always works for me! Try a higher Max. async lat. with these values. It should work.

OK I will definetly try both of those values in memtest with 11-12ns MAL. 10ns already didn't make any difference.

I did run memtest obviously and finally it reports errors.. couldn't get it to report any for the longest time even when getting BSODs in windows. I got about 2000 errors in test 8 over 16hrs with 3684TREF, at a lot of addresses, always around the same MB though (1307, 2003, or 2023)

well, does it stable at DDR500? just make sure ram is not damaged

What TREF values is everyone using on dividers? I'm running a 166 divider and trying to experiment to find the best TREF value. I can't use a divider any higher cause 180 will lock up since i'm currently running 323MHz HTT with an Opteron 165.
