What is the best/proper value variable resistor to get for V~mods?. is it different for different mobo/regulator~chips?. or is there a best 'all round' value?...

This is for a KX7333R for v~core and v~mem. also I'm getting a truepower 550 as soon as they get in stock near me, are there any good links to mods for them?, or do they have variable 'trimming' pots' built into them?...

Thanx :) ...

you can achieve 2.2 V Vcore using a fixed 22 K resistor soldered between pin 7 and 9 of the Vcore voltage regulator.
It is also a good combination using 1.8 K Ohm in series with a 5 K Ohm trimmer for fine tuning. For start adjust the trimmer to get 22 K.;)

2.2 only?, or 2.2 max?. are all the other voltages available but at a higher volt?, ie 1.85=2.2, 1.65=2.0?...

All voltage steps are available but shiftet max value 1.85 will be 2.2. The max value depends on what the mobo will allow. Because of component tolerances not all mobos are the same .

I read somewhere else that 22k would give you 2.05?...

Can someone post a link to a pic of a 22k resistor for me please?, I don't know what the right colour bands are for a 22k resistor...

Also does a 'specific' end have to be soldered to the Chip leg?,(say the gold banded end for instance?)...

I found out it's red~red~orange~gold(gold for 5% tolerance/accuracy)...

What ressitor do I need for the v~mem mod?...

and which for the OVP(pin 10 mod) mod if I need it later?...

MadDogMe,
I use the 22k resistor Vcore mod with the KX7 333 and it will give me 2.2 volt with this mod. To achive this I used 1.8 K + 5 k trimpot as I was prescribing before.
Here you´ll find Mister Icees voltage modification method including V mem mod.
