I'm gonna put an LS4 into my Grand Prix :) That's the 5.3L V8 with DOD... Do you just order such a thing through a retailer or what?

I also gotta find out exactly what I need to do with the brain.

Do you know what kind of an undertaking this is?

First off you will have to buy the engine, trans, and trans-axel/ rear-end(whiucher it is)

second you will have to get custom engina and trans mounts.

next will be the fun task of wiring and re-programming( Have FUN)

then youll have to deal with the added weight and a disrupted weight ratio

if youll think you can handle all that then go to http://www.gmgoodwrench.com/perfpartsjsp/partlist.jsp?section=ce&cat=9274

and good luck

Actually, the 3800 block is an iron block, and the LS4 is an all alluminum block. Its used in the 06 GP GXP, which isn't all that dissimilar than my current 00 Grand prix, just different overall design, but the compartment is pretty much the same size. I understand what goes into such a remodelling. The block, the brains, the tranny, etc. Don't expect it to just be drop and go. :p This is gonna be a major overhaul for my toy car. :) When all is said and done, I'll have it tuned nicely.

Why LS4?

Not just any engine will fit inside any car ya know... :p

5.3 Liters is enough. :)

The engine is physically the same size as any of the LSX engines as far as I know...

Displacement is derived from bore and stroke. Bigger bore, and longer stroke makes more cubic inches of displacement. The engine doesn't get physically larger when you step up to LS1 (5.7), LS6 (5.7), LS2 (6.0), etc...

And good luck. You're going to need the engine side-mounted I assume, with a transaxle to match. Sounds like one hell of a project.

just get a 350 short block
and add turbo or blower

I want the LS4... Its a brand new design, and its got better technology. A turbo is too expensive to bother with for me, since I'll already be spending way more money for the engine, Tranny, transaxle, Differential, Exhaust System etc etc etc... Its so much money that I might just decide against it all together.... hehe

Better technology? If you are talking about DoD sure, I can see its advantages for economy but other than that it's just a smaller displacement LS1.

You may as well buy a Grand Prix GXP | Monte Carlo SS | Impala SS that already come equipped if you want that setup so badly.

A. I don't like the Monte Carlo
B. I don't want/like an Impala
C. I could do all of this and still get my G6 GTP for the price of the GXP.
D. I like the body stle of my current car, as well as IT with a Ram Air hood better.

Besides, theres more to an engine than JUST the displacement.

I know hehe. I just wanna hang onto this car. I like it :) And I think it'll look really good all jazzed up, and done with proper components and parts. :p When I'm done it'll roar like it should; not too loud, but definately not too soft. :p

And definately not to sound like a fart... :p Those are for Hondas... :p

When my car is on the road again i'll make a video of the new setup...so everyone can hear what it sounds like.

The engine is apart and undergoing some major re-vamping.

You should get some electronic cutoff valves and put em on the manifolds, but not too close to the block. Flick a switch, and you can rev like a drag racer.. hehehe

Are you talking about cutouts? I won't be using them.
