hi, i've got a amd 3500+ running at 2420, GF6800GT, on a MSI K8N Diamond, all that hardware kinda left me too broke to buy some updated ram so i've been stuck with 2 256mb DDR400 dimms
now i'm looking to upgrade to something better (cos all games get jerky on so little ram)
so i want to know about DDR... two 512MB DIMMs in DDR mode would be faster than a single 1GB DIMM right?
also, is it possible to have say, one 1GB DDR Dimm running in DDR mode with one 512MB DDR DIMM? could that work? how would it?

thanks in advance!

well you need an even number of sticks for dual channel. Your sayin have a 1 gig stick an a 512 stick in Dual Channel...nah

You can do it but you will get one hell of a performance hit.. which wouldn't be worth it, even if you quadrupled the Ram

Ok, but what if use 2x512MB 400 sticks on one channel and my existing 2x256MB 400 sticks on another channel? wouldn't i have an effective 1.5G of ram running at 400mhz?

You can even mix 2x512tccd and 2x512utt..
