Where can I find a local CNC machine? I tried yellow pages, google local, no results.

I'm planning on building my own LN2 with a guided exhaust, maybe a closed LN2 loop with anti-0k pump, then soft phase change tubing for exhaust, so I don't die from too much nitrogen

Colleges many times have CNC machines. The community college around here has one, though I've never used it.

Hey Nanometer, which college are you talking about? BCIT?

LoL I know the hospital has one, but I don't think they'll let me use it :(

I'm talkin about a community college in southern California. They did have a really fancy one that was around 100 grand. Some kid not knowing what he was doing bent the drive shaft and made a hole in one end of the machine. Theres still another one, and they also got a new one which is probably close to a quater million.

Are you sure your talking about a CNC mill or lathe? They are quite expensive and the better ones are atleast $100,000

You might be thinking of endmills like a Bridgeport. They arent that much. But thats not a CNC either.

Heres a CNC http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7507705199&category=12584

CNC machining centers are really expensive, you can get mills with CNC addons for about 20,000$.

Well I program CNC machines and use to operate them a long time ago...WEDM are fun...like this one:

Of course you know you can find them in any machine shop....

I wish I could help you more....

I had such a hard choice to make and I decided against buying one of those because I don't think I could receive a large enough volume of work to become profitable with it.

They're really fun though. Square holes and such.

you guys realize that there are different size CNC's right? you can get a REAL cnc, probably only 3-axis, for as little as $20k on ebay. But then, yes, they do get up to close to a million dollars, and i'msure there are some that may be more than that.

I saw a CNC drill thing for $2000 before tax, 3 axis with a motor, some drill bits. Probably used for rough works not all accurate.

Anyways, any tips on replacing the comp on an old CNC?
It's a 286, unknown condition, the CNC drill is like a 27" TV big, a box with cover, got a motor inside with drill bits.
