Is Partition Magic 8.0 any good, safe, reliable? I have (2) 74GB Raptors in a Raid Array with XP loaded and running really well without any problems. I want to install XP64 on a 10GB partition of my Raid array and play around with it but I don't know if Partition Magic is safe...I have way too many proggies on my Raid Array to put them at risk.

Any input would be appreciated.

Be sure to make the DOS rescue disks and then remove the program from windows after, its alot safer like that. You can still use all the functionality of the program (from the floppy's) without having an app thats capable of screwing up partitions sat there on your windows install.

Thats how i've done it for years without probs.

Used to be my first choice when it was still PowerQuest Partition Magic.

Tried using the newest one (which is now Symantec Partition Magic) to merge some partitions (used to do it all the time with older versions) and it killed the entire partition table

Trying out Acronis Disk Director now. :D

HELP!!!! Ok, where do I download this s/w from...Symantec wants 69.95 for ver 8.0 (instant download) and this other place wants only 18.99??
http://www.satellite-store.net/p22/Par-2.dwt

Would you trust this 18.99 place? Is there a better place for downloading?

Thanks XS team

Good point. I still use the PowerQuest version and wouldnt go with the Symantec one myself. Theres only one way to get hold of the old PowerQuest version that i can think of, but we cant talk about that round here ;)

Hope this helps?
