I Just got an Asetek Watercooling 1/2inch kit with dual 120mm raditor ya if it sucks great cause I paid nothing for it. Temps are at 38 Idle and 48 Load seems pretty terrible to me with water am I doing something wrong? This is running an Opty 146 at 3GHz 1.5Volts. Please help I used Zerex in the mix and I don't know what else to do temps are pretty pathetic IMO.

make sure you have the waterblock making complete contact with the cpu. what is your ambient temp?

2 120MM Sunon Fans

It's like 60Degrees in my house cold in GA about 40 outside :o

PWM is 36 Under load 30 Idle

Waterblock is making good contact I tighted the thing down so much it's not even funny :o

2.9GHz at Stock Voltage 44 Under load now in prime for about 15minutes I dunno these temps just seem bad ;\. Could long tubing from the raditor be an issue? Or maybe the CPU block? It is some Asetek Block with 2 Outputs 1 Input.

make sure you don't have an air lock somewhere in the system.
what thermal compound are you useing and is it applied thinly and evenly?

Used AS5 with like a dot in the middle im going to take off the IHS maybe that will help as for the air lock nothing that I know of everythings solid pink cause its like the color of the Zerex but how can I be sure?

What are you using to read temps?

I mean I got 3GHz stable with this thing on Air and I can't get it any further with these temps apprently so I feel I wasted money on watercooling even if I got this kit for like nothing.

Could be a problem with reading your temps, since we all know how great mobo sensors are. I wouldn't worry about it, since you don't have a good way to tell if it's performing at best.

mmmm

I was reading the same with my diy setup, but that was because my bios was screwed up.
maybe this is the same problem?

and yea the temps may be high but they are still better than air will get ya ;).

and if all else fails maybe get better fans?
I know where some 130 cfm deltas are with free shippin on ebay and elec.goldmine has some 150's for about the same price ;).

I got 2 running outside my case and its no louder than a small house fan running

and I still dont understand why AMD64's built in sensors could be horribly off...

haha! Maybe your time was wasted.... :slap:

Maybe your IHS isn't making good contact with the core, and that's why your temps are high.
My 146 is running at 3Ghz with 1.472V, WC.
When running Prime, I'm getting about 42-43°.
Increasing the volts to 1.525V increased temps even more, up to 48-49°.
I've seen some with the same temps, and others with way lower temps (37-38° load).

Only way to find out is to remove the IHS, if you wanna take the risc.

I was going to mention the ISH removal as well. I was getting about the same load temps on a 146 CABYE 0536 on water with a Storm WB. Cut the ISH off and not I haven't seen over 37C. However, I didn't net any more OC. I've got two 146's on water and temps didn't really make a difference on the OC. At least you don't have a noisy Heatsink fan running.

well, IMHO rmoving the IHS isnt worth it, yea you MAY get better temps ( I havnt looked into it but they are maybe 2-3 degrees diff I would think ) but its pretty risky form what I hear, even maxxx said he was going to put his back on.

( if it wasnt maxxx then my bad lol, :D I remember it was someone with authority around here though )

Risky? Sure it is but this isn't "Don't Mod Your Hardware Systems" :)
My temps dropped 14C by doing so. Given that it didn't help my OC then one could say it wasn't worth it but from 53C load to 37C load was worth it for peace of mind.

damn 0.o

yea :) but its still riskier than some things we do

but hell for those kinda temp drops id do it too.

Just curious... are you doing a push or a pull with your fans? My system showed similiar results with a push... but once I switched to a pull, it really helped. :)
